Eakin Traded to Kootenay

Good News: The Tigers wont have to deal with Eakin playing for the Broncos tonight.

Bad News: Looks like the Tigers competition just got a whole lot better, but Kootenay paid dearly for half a season of Eakins' services.

Christian Magnus, listed players Ryan Bloom, Jarett Zentner, Colby Cave and Steven Myland along with a 1st and 2nd round pick in 2011 and a 3rd round pick in 2012 is what Kootenay gave up.

That's potentially an 8 for 1 deal, depending on if players report, good enough to crack the roster and draft picks make the team. That's just bananas. The pressure will be on Kootenay to make it to the conference and whl final.

That's crazy as far as I'm concerned. No one is worth what will turn out to be 8 players when it's all said and done.

How Much Kootenay overpaid will take a few years to know, but the Ice have drafted well and have a good bunch of prospects in their system so they can afford it.

Receiving 8 players for one may put some strain on Swift's 50 PPL.

I think the reason why swift got so many players is because their is not a bona fida future all-star coming back, but a handful of players who's development may or may not turn out to be good players, as well as an assortment of picks.

Actually that goalie the Broncos picked up looks to have incredible stats in midget.

I think on Kootenay's part this could be a partial dump of players and picks off their 50 PPL to make room for the future drafts as well as giving up a solid prospect or two with some players who may or may not turn out thrown in.

On the surface it may seem like wtf is kootenay doing, but in hindsight when you draft well your 50 ppl fills up quick and sometimes you gotta get rid of old stuff to make room for new stuff.

Its a win win for both teams.
