Wow, fantastic news. Helps out our scoring. But I think with limited spots we may seen some trades. Sheen? MacKay? Hurley? But it is a great lift for the tigers front end. Would not be surprised for some trades to gain for D men with size and experience.

You have Becker, an 18 dman with size.
You have Jansen, staford, hunker and or moore as 17 year old dmen with size coming.
experience no. next year will be a transition year.

Healthy scratches hurt Becker's chances for a tonne of ice time next year. There is a reason why he had so many healthy scratches. I think some readers on here, need to be realistic about Becker's performance. He has size, but doesn't use it well. And his foot speed is weak at best.
His battles again were weak at best.
He is a great kid, but may not be suited for a full time role

I sure hope the new guy is worth all that the hype is about? Most players on the tigers have earned the right to play. And were a healthy scratch last year unless vet was out. Do ya think one of the hard working boys from last year are bumped by hollywood superstar? We will see, no try out and first line status kinda fishy.
Not being pessimist, but tigers need a goal or two more than star power.
Good luck to Miles, would prefer less hype and goals more than twitter fodder and media attention.
just sayin, we will see ?

Get your facts straight before trashing a player. Healthy scratch does not mean recovering from wrist surgery nor does it mean playing top 4 minutes one province away. Those who watched Becker play in Feb and March and practice saw a damn who didn't let forwards by him, had a quick first pass out, and realized he is a smart puck moving dmam with offensive
talent and size. I suggest you attend practice and watch the drills...especially the battle ones! You are dead wrong on your analysis of Becker .

You don't want to be labelled a practice player! Becker has time on his side to be aplayer, but obviously that a coaching decision for a reason.

Becker was the 7th dman in the province next door. He was behind Sherbinin, Robak. Patterson, London, Everson, and Muto. The only reason Becker saw more ice in some games, was because Robak, London and Sherbinin were out with extended concussions.
Those are the facts!! That is not trashing Becker in any way.
He is a great kid, and WITH time, may prove to be a bonafide WHL dman. At this point, I'm leaning on towards the coach on this one. When I say there is a reason he was a healthy scratch. He was scracthed 14 games this year between the two leagues. Again, just the facts!!
As for Koules, I agree with Anonymous. There is a lot of hyoe with this kid. Let's just hope he fits in well with the club, and makes his mark. There are alot of other players in line for that 1st line position, before someone just walks on and is handed that spot.
I hope for Becker and Koules that they both have a successful year next year Whom ever they play for in 2012 - 2013

Long strides may appear as slow foot speed but chew up just as much ice as the short guy whose legs are moving three times as fast to cover the same distance. Another player who appeared to have slow foot speed when he was in the 'dub was Tyler Myers. Tall, gangly guys skate this way, but they can move.

Becker was also the youngest D man over in cowichan. He doesnt dazzle just plays a simple smart game.

I liked his defensive insticts and smarts in the games he played over here. We will have to see come training camp as to where everyone is at but I like what Becker has to bring.
