Tigers Aquire Another Overager

Cranbrook, BC – Jeff Chynoweth, General Manager of the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club, today announced the club has traded 20-year-old Forward Elgin Pearce to the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.

“With us having four 20-year-old players we knew we had to get down to the League maximum of three prior to the 20-year-old deadline on October 11th. With numerous 1992 born players eligible to return for their overage season we wanted to ensure Elgin had the opportunity to play his final season in the WHL. We would like to thank Elgin for his three years with our Hockey Club and wish him all the best in Medicine Hat,” added Chynoweth

A little surprised at the move myself,  This Leaves Kale Kessy, Elgin Pearce, Alex Theriau, and Derek Ryckman fighting for the last 3 spots. With the Recent acquisitions of Ryckman and Pearce I'm wondering if Kale Kessy or Alex Theriau have played their last game as a Tiger.

Edit: It looks like Kale Kessy may be expected to move up to the AHL/ECHL.

 Scouting Report
Pearce scored 21 goals and added 14 assists for 35 points in 69 games last year for Kootenay.

Expecting Kessy gone to AHL/ECHL with Phoenix farm club

Think Kessy could be the odd man out as he's become a liability to the team. Untimely penalties, suspensions and not much of a scoring touch, not what you need out of a 20 yr old forward.

From September 27th.

#Coyotes prospect Kale Kessy, who was suspended 12 gms by the #WHL, will be coming to @portlandpirates training camp.

I'm expecting Boston or Broadhead to be move now for a physical forward

He asked to be released from the team, I also heard that Bus or Theriau will be traded or dropped to pick up a bigger powerforward, because that game tonight they were missing that jump and had no hitting game, they did win 5-1 but its Regina a team like Saskatoon will hammer us out of the game

Kessy did not ask to be released. False info

Just a thought here, but given that the WHL seems to go a bit over the top with having a 45 min meeting with Kessy, does anyone think that Phenoix felt that Kessy was now a marked man in the WHL and it would just be better to get him out of there where he could play physical? With men, not boys? Just a thought. I too know that Kessy likes the Hat and did not want to be "released".
