Tigers make a couple roster moves

Last Edit: Sept, 12 6:30 PM mtn.

Kellan Williams was sent back to his midget club. I think Williams was a pleasant surprise sticking around as long as he did.

Nathyn Mortlock was assigned to the Midget AAA Tigers.
Alex Mowbray was assigned back to calgary.

Mowbray, Mortlock, and Williams were all 16. (3) 16 year olds remain on the roster.

Looking at stats from Alan Caldwell's blog.

Tigers are 14th in average height
(their are 5-6 teams extremely close to each other)
so they are roughly in the middle of the pack.

Tigers are the 2nd lightest team in the whl.
Tied for 13th for the oldest average age.
Tied with Portland with the most rookies on the team.

How many cuts are needed then?

If you take the standard: 2 goalies, 7Defenseman, 14 forwards, then add a Dman for Theriau's injury.

1 goalie
2 on defense
2 at forward

at minimum they need to make 4 cuts by mid-october to get down to the 25 player limit.

But they could be player heavy for a little while yet, and may even use a fuller roster(extra forward and defenseman) of 24-25 guys if thier are any injuries whatsoever.

Also Cole Sanford (F, 16) has been out with Mono, but he might be cleared as early as today.

Tough decisions now. Some pretty good young guys, will need to put it all on the line every game. Competition should be great! Go tigers go tonight! Anyone know what goaltenders we are playing tonight. I was guessing Czech and Dawson.

So id say Cameron, Hunker, and Staples are on the chopping block?

I really like Hunker, hope he stays but will be tight!

If i would guess id say
Cameron (other goalies are better)
Hunker (Stanton is an improved version do like him tho)
Staples (Odd man out)
and then Sanford and Butcher although i wouldnt be surprised if Dieno got released for a young guy

I think that is pretty accurate.

I really like Hunkers game, I would hope that if a late season trade is made that he would be pulled up. I do like Hunker better then the import dman, but it seems that we end up keeping the import players.

Butcher is such a talent, if Dieno goes I would guess it would be him that would be moved up.

Have to agree. Of the d men left Hansen looks to be the weakest of the bunch. Doubtful that he would be sent home though.

I have heard rumblings that Butcher has really impressed and is likely not going back to play Minor hockey.

i havent seen much so it was just a guess and Hansen and Marek both need time to get use to the flow here its a lot more physical in WHL than in Europe

I also heard that Butcher has really impressed and my guess, will probably stick. So far Hansen looks like one of the weaker Dman. And I am a big fan of Hunker. I just hope they pick the best guy. Now, in saying that, I do totally agree the Euros often need time to adjust and the coaches may see something that I can not.
