Blades Defeat Tigers 4-3

Tigers deserved a better fate in this one. They put on a 2-0 lead and had multiple chances to break the game open further, including a shot off the post but Makarov was standing on his head. Cam Lanigan also played well through the first two periods.

In the third period the Tigers took some penalties and  Saskatoon all of a sudden got some puck luck scoring a couple fluky goals, and a couple powerplay goals.

I thought the Tigers got quite a few good scoring chances in the game, just a frustrating ending. Saskatoon is a team the Tigers could have a good chance playing against in the first round if they make the playoffs and the Tigers showed that if that happens its not going to be an easy series.

Up Next: A struggling Prince Albert Hockey Team Wednesday Night at Home. Ever since Christmas PA has been struggling and dropping in the standings. A couple weeks ago I would have said catching them in the standings would be near impossible, but if the Tigers can win their would only be a 4 point difference between them.

I think what really hurt us tonight was our power play. We barely registered any shots and it has just plain stunk lately. I don't understand why we seem to forget how to play when we have the extra man. Maybe we should start turning down power plays?? Anyway, this game really hurts as we played good enough to win for the most part, but we have to keep playing our game for the WHOLE GAME!!! Do not try protecting a flimsy lead so early in the game.

Boston is a disaster on the PP turning the puck over consistently - better to put him only on the PK replace him with Doty

I have to be honest, the Tigers deserved this. Bredo, Cox and Pearce all took penalties that should not have happened. To me, it was selfish and lazy play on their part. To beat Sask they know they needed to play with 5 Tigers on the ice. I expected more from Bredo and Pearce especially in this department. I was very disappointed in them.
This is a game, had all players stuck to the system, they would have won. But undisciplined play against a good team will always sink you.
I know a lot of people will say that those 3 do so much, we would be worse off if they were not there....I agree, they are 3 very important players, but with power comes responsibility and the 3 of them lost sight of that. They should know better. More is expected of your better players and tonight they let everyone down.
I hope those 3 walked into the dressing room and apologised for losing the game.

The penalties were a let down at the end. Cost the game. This team is good but not good enough to play short. Gotta be more disciplined out there!

Why was Ryckman not out on any of our PK time? He is a good shot blocker and seldom is on ice when opposing teams score on PP. He plays his defensive positoin well on PK. Didn't see Becker on the PK during the 3rd either. Both of which were +2 on the night. Bredo looks like he tired at times doing PK and PP. Takes a bad penalty and then we get strapped with 2 lines of PK rotating, doesn't make any sense.

Coaches and some of the players need to accept full responsibility for this loss.

Coaches did their job, 3 players were selfish and lazy, that is why we lost!

Anon 10:35 Pearces penalty didn't put the team short handed, Thrower got called for diving on the play as well so it was a 4 on 4. You could see when the third period started the team was sitting on the lead and not initiating like they did in the first two periods. The penalties changed the momentum which they couldn't get back. All in all was a pretty good effort considering the amount of games they've played in the last week.

Attention Linesman: Just drop the puck!!!

It is true that Pearce's penalty did not put the team short handed but it did open up the ice with 4 on 4. Which still plays into the Blades favor, would be best to not take stupid penalties to put the team at a scenario that gives the Blades opportunity.

Pearce is 3rd in scoring, taking a penalty, whether with a Blade player or not still takes him off the ice, which puts out team at a disadvantage. Remains the same, poor play putting the team in a difficult situation.

Was a great character loss..Im sure the team learned alot about themselves Saturday nite..Had some playoff intensity and Tigers lack of playoff type intensity showed...
Would have been great to get a pp goal on our chances and put the dagger in the Blades...
I expect coaches to work on pp.
Lets get fined tuned for the playoffs...
Gonna be a great bounce back game against PA...

You are right, it is a character loss. They gave it away, literally. Those 2 points are gone, hopefully they have gained confidence that they can win if they want and have learned it takes 60 min and a lot of self control to win. But, for this team, not too many teams will dominate the Tigers, unless they let them.
On to PA, will be an emotional game. Lets get 2 more points!!!! Go tigers go!

Think you are getting a little over sensitive with the comments you post and don't post Tiger Turf. Someone blaming a player for a loss for putting the team in a 4 on 4 situation and you choose not to post my comment because I used the word hiarious. Sheesh.

I haven't rejected any comments by you longtimefan..to be honest I usually approve yours without reading them.......

You could see the guys were tired saturday Night. With about 10 minutes left in the third period all of a sudden the 4th line was given back to back shifts and another shift a short time later.....that's a bit unusual compared to what normally happens.

Penalties usually come with tired legs...Bredo was eating some huge minutes saturday night.

Frustrating yes, but the Tigers probably should have beat this team. A team that is filled with 19 year olds.

The Blades D likes to gamble and they don't cover each other very well when pucks are turned over. They need to fix that If they wish to get past the first or second round.

Sorry for my little rant, got up on the wrong side of the bed today. Appreciate the work you put into this blog.
Only real issue I've got with the team right now is the power play. As Cat Fan said if we score on the pp on Saturday we win the game no doubt. As I see it they don't have a guy that can quarterback the pp like we've had in the past. Without that guy opposing teams can be very aggressive with our point men and make it extremely difficult to gain the zone at times. Once they get it in and get set up it seems to be ok.

When Bus left the PP took off, but then slowly dipped a little.

They definitly need to work on Zone entry a little, and wouldn't hurt to work on some set plays down low

A win Tonight will put the Tigers within a 4 point striking distance of PA.
