NHL Central Scouting

EDIT: The WHL Bantam Draft is May 2nd. I will be away from a computer for most of the day, so I may not be able to update  anything until the evening.

The NHL Central Scouting just released their year end lists.

North America Skaters

6th Hunter Shinkaruk  (-1)
66th Tyler Lewington (+1)
76th Spenser Jensen    (-11)
78th Ty Stanton       (-10)

The +/- is an indication of if they rose or fell from the Mid-Year Rankings.
Their are 211 picks in this years Entry Draft

Would love to see Shinkaruk go to the Flames. Good atmosphere there with the youth revolution and he is the type of guy they could build the team around, not forgetting having a home town kid on the team would really help the Flames!

How often do 20 year olds get drafted at the entry draft?

Rarely if ever, especially those the size Curtis is. Hopefully he gets picked but if he doesn't he will probably get a free agent tryout with someone.

I do not think Valk will be drafted, he has been passed up for a number of years now. Teams would be more inclined to draft a younger kid and sign Valk for free, without having to give up a pick.
A lot of teams will shy away from him because of his size. Maybe a Buffalo or Tampa will give him a look. But teams like Boston would have no interest, just not their sort of player.
Good luck to Valk, hope he lands on his feet regardless, sure a talented player!

In the latest hockey news publication they have Shinkaruk at #23 and Lewington at #94. The others are not ranked.

Most still have Hunter in the top 10 - but he could drop. Would be nice to see him go in the first round. This year is a very talented crop of kids compared to other years. Recall that both Etem and Ennis were low first round, so even if Hunter does drop, those two guys are not bad company in that range!!

Hoping that Bredo gets a look, hopefully signs a contract as a Dman. He is so talented on the back end, a team would be crazy not to sign him!

Shinkaruk will not go top 10 id be surprised to see him go top 15 he's is all O but is horrible on D and has really struggled against quality Dmen that being said late in the season he would give up on plays and you could see Clouston really digging into him....Id expect a team like Detroit pick him up and teach him the defensive side a lot better and make him a good 2 end player

Bredo should definitly at least get invited to a spring training camp.

Shinkaruk ranked 10th in TSN rankings released today. Good for him!

Shinkaruk showed improvement in playoffs, was 0 in =/- where Valk was -4. They are on the same line. And there will be some team that wants his pure offence. You can teach defence but you can not teach offence like that. I think he will go top 15 easy. Especially given recent picks like Hall who has no defence at all!
