Tigers Defeat Blades 6-4

A Few Observations

Leadership seems to be coming from the Coaches. A perfectly placed Timeout after two quick Blades goals got the Tigers out of their funk and they recovered from a 3-1 deficit.

I thought Chad Butcher had a helluva game, and I like the Improvement that Matt Staples is showing. Scott Allan was dressed for his second game but didn't see very much ice-time.....Spenser Jensen was scratched.

It was good to see Curtis Valk Scoring.  I feel like he is not playing up to standards compared to last season. He doesn't have that oomf in his game......and a guy like him should be leading the charge every night. Even though he has 17 points in 13 games I feel he is capable of more.

Kyle Becker
Back into the lineup after missing quite a few games with an injury. I feel like he was missed back there. He can slow the game down, and knows how to get shots on net on the powerplay.

Hunter Shinkaruk
Was scratched for his "Lower body" day to day injury...

Overall I liked that they got back on track with a win.

Up Next
In Prince Albert Tuesday, and a rematch with Saskatoon on Wednesday.

Interesting about Shinkaruk, does he have an injury or was this a message? He has not been a team player the last few games, and the Tigers seem to play better as a team without him. No one player is the whole team and he has to realize this.

He was injured, you could see it last game....although I thought it was another one of his embellishments at first...

Yeah Becker was just amazing in that Seattle game

I thought Hunter's return would have a larger impact on the team. So far his numbers are average and he is not really proving why he was a first round NHL pick. I hope he is able to find his groove again.

Just one thought, why did they keep Doty if he is not able to protect Hunter and Valk. Don't get me wrong, keeping Doty i think was the right move, but putting him on the fourth line,???? while Hunter and Valk are getting hit all over the ice. No wonder the kid is getting hurt. Get Doty on that top line and i'm betting the production will go up. Labelle and Broadhead can take care of themselves. You say he cannot keep up with the top line, well if he is on it, maybe he will work harder and his skating will improve. Is that not why he was sent back. Semenko's skating did not hurt Gretzky in Edmonton.

I also thought Jake Doty and Koules had good games as well. Certainlt seems to me that Doty is much more of a factor playing with skilled guys as he was on Saturday.

If Leier were still here it would have been a 10-0 Tiger victory, in fact they would be undefeated :)

I really like Becker. He is decent defensively and sure has a good shot! He jumps into offence without jeopardising defence. He probably has one of the more accurate shots on the team.
I was looking at stats and saw that Lewington was +12 - very impressive!
Good luck to the TIgers on the road. They need to keep up the confidence as I think this team has all it needs to go deep into playoffs. And I hope they play Wapple, he is the better tendy!

I agree with you anon at 4:44 Leier should not have been traded.
