Hard to figure out the Tigers drafting philosophy other than lets take the smallest guy available. With the first pick they take a guy who is 5'8" and pass on a guy from the same team who is 6'2" and had 25 more points than the guy they took. Go Figure.

The broadcasters all all mentioned that he is a bigger guy.

James Hamblin's father, Tim, was a former University of Alberta Golden Bears football player. He coached (still might) a high school team in Leduc called the Tigers (I believe.

Sammy Walkers brothers, Ben and Jack played in the WHL with the Victora Royals.

Have not seen what we got in return for Haar. Any ideas?

I did not see a 6'2" guy drafted around #17 on the list.

Good size in the rest of the draft.

12 years in a row of playoffs, 11 of those to the second round at least...... No other team, big or small, can say that. Something about their system IS working.
Only our 1st rounder is smaller, the rest are a few inches taller then previous years. I like the mix, I don't want them to leave what has proven to work for the tigers. It is good to see a bit more size, which may help them, but they kept true with the first rounder to tiger hockey of small and fast.
Also heard our first rounder has a great attitude and is a team guy. After the Hunter mess, glad they are keeping that in mind. I don't like watching arrogant selfish players. They need team players!!!

Ya I watched that videos to. He looks bigger than 5'8 on the tape as well.

No clue. That remains a mystery. I didn't see any Portland Traded to medicine Hat on the list....or extra picks that appeared weird...

I also noticed that the Trade where the Tigers sent Zach Hodder to MJ for a conditional 8th looked to be null.

The Tigers made a miniscule trade yesterday sending their 9th round pick to seattle for a 9th round pick in 2015.

James Hamblin already has a Hat connection.

Have to admit, I like the looks of the tigers for the foreseeable future. I am hoping they can continue to be a playoff team and in a couple years time they can make a run!
Go tigers go! When does the season start? I am ready, now. Miss it!

I am happy for the tigers to continue drafting and running the team how they have been. Tweeking with a bigger guy here and there but I would not like to see them turn into a "heavy team". Call me crazy, but have enjoying 12 straight years of playoffs and do not want to change that!
Go tigers go!

I don't disagree, 12 years in the playoffs is a tremendous accomplishment and one that most teams would die for. However, I would hope that as far as management and the owners are concerned the goal should be to try and win a championship which I don't think they can accomplish with the over all size of the team. If you look at the final 4 teams this year the Tigers were considerbly smaller than the other three teams. With small skilled guys you are going to have success in the regular season, its the long playoff grind that I believe you need some bigger bodies to get all the way to the end.

This is a question I wanted to put out 3-4 years ago, but I didn't think many people would understand it.

Do the Tigers want above average teams every-year not good enough to be WHL Champions, but never have a losing season.

Or do they want more volatile teams which have greater peaks, and greater lows???

The Tigers are trying to generate a system where they are competitive every-year and hopefully every few years one of their rosters stands-out and they go really far. It hasn't resulted in a WHL championship, but it hasn't been a complete failure either.

It goes all the way to systems play....and how they pick players in the draft, which compliments their systems.

They might adjust their draft strategy, they adjusted picking up their Defenseman but I don't see them going completely off the board and changing it, because their draft strategy and systems play would conflict.

We don't remember many bone crunching hits from Doty, because the way the Tigers play is...... well a whole nother topic of discussion.
