Chad Labelle Moves On

Also congrats to who has committed to going to the University of PEI to continue his hockey career!
Medicine Hat Tigers Twitter

I think this move was a very smart decision for Labelle. He would have been a player that was hard pressed to stick in the WHL. Moving in his 20 yr old year helps him continue his hockey career while also starting on his education. Crazy to think how fast time flies, it wasn't long ago when Labelle was a late season callup who scored a couple pretty pickoff goals in his 16yr old year.

Overagers
Matt Staples Cole Sanford L Dryden Hunt * Trevor Cox * Ty Stanton *

With Ast heading to Germany, and Labelle off to University, it cuts down the overage numbers to 5. I am fairly certain that Eisenschmid won't be back as a 20yr old euro due to the Tigers acquiring 2 in the off-season.

Right now Staples is again sitting on the outside looking in. He was in that position last year but his hard work and willingness to do anything kept him in the lineup.

Sean Clouston has mentioned other GM's have called asking about these players, but will see how the off-season plays out and if any of the above gets signed and plucked away.

Canalta Centre
I have heard nothing but glowing reviews of the new arena. There is an open House August 22 @ 1:00 PM.

The new Canalta Centre is awesome. Feels like a different world in there compared to the old arena. Great views from every seat and standing room also. At least 5 concessions with 4 registers per, big expansive concourse, beautiful lounge, I could go on and on. Also there seems to be plenty of parking, I'm not sure this is going to be much of a problem unless the building is sold out. Can't wait for opening night!!

What does the "L" beside Sanfords name indicate?

Handicap parking will be an issue for sure.....Hearing that handicapped fans have to come to rink 1.5 hours prior to game to secure a spot at the arena was terrible. Similar amount of spots at Canalta. Im not impressed at this. I wasn't able to be at the opening but have heard great reviews. I due feel for the special needs fans.

L - IMO the only 100% lock to stay at the beginning of the season.
The Tigers have such as amazing crop of 20's this season. Whoever they keep will be alright.

I can see Clouston going with the 3 forward option or the 2 forward 1 defense option just because he seems keen on the 3rd option at times.

I think he really likes the Sanford/cox duo, and I see him as having a tough time breaking those two up.

Cox, if returned from the pro ranks, which I think he will be, is also a lock. Unless this team flounders badly he's not going anywhere.

Wishing Chad Labelle the best! Heart & Soul player that will be missed.

Depending on the upside with the Euro Dman, my Overagers would be Stanton, Sandford and Hunt...Cox doesn't like Clouston and seems to be a distraction off the ice. Also he doesn't give 100% all the time. Plus we would get some good return for him with a trade out east.

I think the Import from spokane will be ok. From What I've read the Tigers can expect a 3rd/4th or 2nd line type Dman. Similar to the Derek Ryckman pickup a few years ago. Nothing outstanding but big and defensively solid.

The New Import Alexei Platonov is a big question mark. I'm putting him on a Scott Allan type of player. Has some potential, maybe a little raw.

Any body have any insight on this years captains?

I would think Cox likes Clouston. He has given him lots of icetime and every chance to succeed.

I would heavily lean towards Stanton, Hunt, Sanford as well, but I think it's a good thing to wait and see what training camp brings.

is Brad Forrest at this years camp?

Cale Makar who was an 8th round pick a few yrs back has committed to UMass and will be playing for the Brooks Bandits. I'm told the Tigers were very keen on having him this yr.

All training camp activities closed to the public in the new building. What a load of crap.

Training Camp was closed because their was just a temp agreement in place SMG told the Tigers to hire security to allow fans into the place the Tigers declined, and tried to relay it out to the callers that no fans because the lease wasn't signed yet.

Go figure once again the tigers got their money for season tickets but again aren't ready to evolve or hire security to please the fans or put up a lemonade stand to pay for the security LOL...

This tiger organization has to be the biggest bunch of morons in the league and maybe the chl. What a great way to get people excited about a new season and a new building, close the doors to the public for camp sessions and the intra squad game because your to cheap to pay for security. Perhaps people who are sitting on the fence about buying tickets for this season could have gone and checked the place out and ponied up after seeing the place. These clowns couldn't organize a drinking contest at a liquor store.

Where is Blake Penner? He wasn't on any of the rosters for the camp this week-end.

Good Catch. I don't see him on their either.

Only 1 access in and out of the Canalta center should be a bugger getting out after games :(

Penner is on the small thoughts at large camp lists.

First time in Tiger history that I haven't sat in the rink and rated the new-comers. I'm very disappointed not to have been able to watch the Black and White game. Thanks a lot management.

Unable to skate due to injury

Closed to the public sure puts me in a foul mood. No way to evaluate the young kids. I also agree about starting a bit of a buzz for the bandwagon fans. Sometimes business needs to take a bit of a hit for the long term gain. Spend money today for the return latter. Again, the fans are the only ones that suffer.
This SMG better understand that they just manage the rink. WE are the OWNERS of the building.

Tigers management must be too lazy to do the legwork of being organized. Hire some interns with business schooling and let them stir the pot and make organization happen!! It takes more than 5 people who actually have know /how to run this business.

Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club

Fans, a reminder that your ‪#‎WHLCanes‬ will be hosting the Red vs. White Inter-Squad game tonight at the ENMAX Centre at 7pm! Admission is FREE with a donation of a non-perishable food item. As well, there will be a concession open with a full menu and liquor sales!

I went to the open house to check out my seat. I was delighted that I was practically placed in the same seat as in the old barn. The Canalta Centre is a beautiful facility and I cannot wait for the Tigers season home opener vs the Canes. It was a bit disappointing that training camp was closed to the public. The Tigers owners needs to right this wrong to ensure that this type of PR nightmare does not happen in the future.

OMG the Tiger Management is being embarrassed by the Lethbridge Hurricanes....I repeat the Letbridge Hurricanes. Is there no pride left in the Tiger organization. Get your head out of the sand Maser brothers. Apologize for the training camp fiasco and then initiate some kind of charity drive to make up for it.

Good luck Blake Penner in future endeavors!!!
