What were Everyone thoughts at training camp?

So many players to keep an eye on 2 observations was not enough. I didn't get to see Dahlstrom, or Rubins.

Prezusio, and Hamblin were flying and looked pretty good. Dalton Gally looked like a man among boys. Mason Shaw looked a little rusty, but was very vocal on the ice.

Matt Bradley was super Chippy. He was hacking and slashing which seemed a bit too intense for a veteran playing in the training camp. Him and Fischer got into a hack&slash match at one point.

Butcher looked good. Isaac Labelle had a good showing in net. I thought 2 of the 15yr old goaltenders KAEDEN FREER-LANE and I think it was Kaleb McEachern has pretty solid showings in the games I watched.

I also liked 15 yr old Corson Hopwo. Very smart player, with some skill. His size was quite small though.

I liked both of the Tigers previous 1st round picks in Chyzowski, and Williams.

Couple things, first, I am disappointed there is no video from the games at training camp. They use to do that and I really liked it. In fact, I thought last year the video stuff on the website was really poor compared to previous years.
Second, Gally, I like him. Glad they signed him, thought that he has potential to take a spot on defence and make the tigers coaches question whether guys like Forrest are worth keeping. I would rather see this kid develop and play then Forrest who is older and unlikely to be a core guy ever. Just my thoughts tho.

Defense
Kirichenko 20 Schultz 19
Rubins 19 Quenneville 18
Heid 19 MacPherson 18
Forrest 19
Gally 18

Potentially 1 too many right there.

I would agree with you regarding Forrest. He is on the outside looking in on the depth charts, and wouldn't be kept as a 20.

I do have a hesitations on giving him up for nothing. He would land on another whl team. Defensive depth seems shallow (at least in the central) He should have value on the trade market, but may need to be patient until mid-late october for a 5th-6th-7th round pick.

I DO NOT like giving up calgary, Red Deer or a brandon (someone who may utilize a free vet)
a free 19yr old vet for nothing. I feel it would be a terrible move as Forrest can skate and If he puts his game together provides another team decent depth over a 16-17 yr old rookie who could be struggling to keep up.

Tigers probably don't need that pick, but having a competitor waste a 5-7th is better than giving competitors free value. Also Depth is never a bad thing in case of injury. On most teams it should be expected that room will be tight at the beginning of the season as players play themselves into positions.

In general I"m not a fan of having the roster set before day 1, because of hot/cold streaks. I like players playing themselves into positions as the start of the season goes on.

Big question, is Chyzowski a forward or defence? I swear we drafted him as a forward and he played as a forward that year. Has he switched to defence??? He is listed on the roster under both??

He is a forward. He played forward at camp.

Looks like McGoven is the backup goalie. No other goalies are listed on the pre season roster. He will need to play some games if he is going to be the started next year (if Schneider is in the AHL - which I always think is a mistake to do to goalies)

Have not seen Haden play, really low pick, usually those guys never make the tigers. Anyone see him on the ice?
Also of note, Bunz now coaching in Edmonton.

Pre-Season roster is out, but looks like they are missing both imports.

Need more viewings of haden. His footspeed is average and he seems to be one of those players who doesn't neccesarily stand out, yet he always finds himself in good position to score goals.
