Trade Deadline Thread

Just creating a new thread so you folks don't have to scroll  to get to the Comments Sections.

Massive Deals
Their have been some absolute massive deals around the league this season. Prices are through the roof. I'll post an Eastern Conference Review after the deadline passes, but in the mean-time here is a short summary of some key deals.

Tigers
Nothing so far from the Tigers, but if something happens, I'll edit this post.

Teams are drunk. Lol @ some of the picks and prospects in some of the deals being made. I dunno maybe Clueless Clouston should move some of his 19 yr olds.

The amount some of these teams have paid for defensive defenceman is massive.
These prices are crazy.

Clueless will do nothing

I hope the Tigers become sellers. Although a lot of people have been moved and a lot of teams might be done. Would have been nice to get some size and defensive minded guys in the system.

I am done with Clouston. The players don't want to play for him and leave. The fans don't want to watch his team and leave (as evidenced by ticket sales). Masers need to acknowledge that EVERYONE is unhappy and do something or sell the damn team. Sell it to Willie PLEASEEEEEEE

When can the tigers finally build for a memorial cup?? Will we ever see the tigers there again?

Not as long as clouston and the masers are here

This 3 ring circus has become one of the most boring teams to watch, with the same systems and outcome every year. The other teams in the central division are loading up for the years to come and are going to be extremely powerful hockey teams. The tigers are falling behind quickly with no direction and leadership. Credit always given to the players who play hard, but they can only succeed as much as they're given the direction to do so.
Big deal they're going to possibly win the division again this year, when the division is all rebuilding except for them. 2 division titles (maybe) in 2 years and really that's all they've got in this tenure of management. Need changes in tiger town and SOON!!!!!!!!!

Some of my thoughts

I don't see championship potential, but I do see above average potential for the next couple seasons.
---
This year would have been a shot with their veteran D core, but the season changed on them when Shaw went down, and Fischer left the team.
---

This season I still see potential in them to reach round 3 if everyone is healthy. I think Swift, and moose Jaw have significantly better teams, and now Regina is looking pretty strong with the moves they've made as long as their chemistry jives. Brandon is also well balanced but has more punch to their offence than the Tigers do currently, but that could change if shaw was back.

The Tigers could easily face one of those above teams in round 1 though, so they face an uphill battle in playoffs.
-----------
---------
Next season and beyond

They have great balance with the exception of their D core, which is either veteran or rookie and no in between. That gap means they could have a below average back-end next season. I feel they will use both imports for 19yr old defenceman, to rectify that.
---------

Edmonton, calgary, Red Deer all have significant picks in the first 3 rounds, for the next 3 seasons. Once 2022 hits, the Central will be quite strong and the Tigers strategy of balance
---
For a championship krugers boys are maturing. I feel their best bet for a championship is to rally around their 16's and 17's. If that group is bolstered they will Ice a very strong team in 2 years. If they don't bolster they will stay status quo with an above average season in 2 years.
----
This is my opinion only....

This balance and above average with no going for it years has frustrated me, and its part of the reason why I didn't renew my season tickets this year which snapped something like a 15 year streak of attending 32+ games a year. I was simply getting bored.

The same music got boring, the same promotions got boring, the same hockey style got boring. I still love Tiger hockey, but it was time for a change, and that change for me was getting a WHL live subscription, which I'm enjoying immensely, and I'm pretty sure I will continue that subscription next season.

I've attended more games in swift than I have here. I still love the Tigers and want them to win, but I feel I 100% understand a lot of these comments on here which show frustrations.

I moved out to the coast a few years back and had to give up my season tickets after the first year at the new arena (I hope it’s ran better) so I follow this thread and a few others and the fire Clouston theme is everywhere. How vocal is that at games?
I’ve always had the impression Clouston builds teams to make the playoffs and that’s all he is aiming for. I wonder if that’s what the Masons only care about is that extra revenue for a month, amazing all the rumors you read about player moving on and nothing from the league either. Something is not right

The Broncos completed a deal with the Hurricanes in acquiring Lethbridge captain and 20-year-old forward Giorgio Estephan, goaltender Stuart Skinner and forward Tanner Nagel. In return, the Broncos are sending rookie forward Logan Barlage, goaltender Logan Flodell, forward Owen Blocker and defenceman Matthew Stanley. Lethbridge also receives a first-round and a third-round selection in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft as well as a future conditional second-round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft.

This team is going to be destroyed by whatever East team gets that WC1 seed.

Corner the market on small players continues

Anonymous said...

Right, cause who wants players like Shaw, Hamblin, Gerlach, Quenville, Butcher, Sandford, Cox, Valk, Ennis, Bosch, Russell, Todd, St. Jacques

Anonymous said...

Out of all the small guys just mentioned by Anon 2:57, only the ones from Willie's era (Ennis, Bosch, Russell, Todd, St, Jacques) were on a championship team and they were also surrounded by bigger players, which allowed them show their skill and help win the championship.
Smaller, skilled players always have a place, but not when the whole team is small. Out of all the players mentioned which have or will play in the show. Hmmmm interesting.

Wow, what a wild trade deadline. Cholowski to Hawks, Clague to Warriors, Kaspick to Royals. Surprising that the Wheaties would be sellers.
