Tiger Turf - we see the slanderous comment is still on the last post from Anon May 30, 7:51. Do you not have the capabilities as the blogger to delete comments? Your pinned post states "It's ok to disagree, just be respectful with your comments." Do you feel that is a respectful comment?

Tigerturf id like you to come off anonymous please. You’d have nothing to say

After consideration, I have deleted the comment.

This is why I choose to stay anonymous. Not necessarily that comment in general, but when there is a disagreement people go crazy and act like it's the end of the world. They want to know who I am so they can try to impose their influence or fight me.

I tend to leave things and think about it to see what is fair. Also, Tigers fans are a passionate bunch and more often than not an I'll advised comment will have people calling them out or others providing their own input. I think sometimes that can be more beneficial than just a quick delete.

SO GLAD!!! I can't say that I'm surprised when Willie said he was coming back to MH it made sense that the Maser's would offer him the job. As for Clouston GOOD RIDDANCE!!!

Thank you Tiger Turf for deleting the comment. Comments that are slanderous are a completely different issue than comments that someone just doesn't like because it is a different opinion than their own. Slanderous comments are false statements that can destroy someone's reputation and when someone makes those types of comments they are doing so to cause ill intent to the individual they are directed to. Those types of comments should be deleted immediately.

I'm really interested to see what has changed in Willies Coaching. What 8 years of pro hockey have taught him.

I'm sure he's been exposed to some of the advanced stats and analytics in the game so I'm curious to see whats changed

It's Libel if it's in print. Slander if it's spoken in person. Just saying.

Looks like Hollett will be released by Ottawa unless the team signs him by this evening. My understanding is if he is released he is then eligible to be drafted again in June in the NHL draft. Is that correct?

Yes

The Central looks really damn tough for next season.. I've only looked at Calgary, Edmonton, Tigers, Lethbridge.

Calgary has a maturing veteran defence that will be tough to score on. They also have some puck movers. They have 4 offensive players who will be able to score at will and some pretty good depth up front.

They've already made their intentions known by adding star Jett Woo on the back-end. If they can get solid goaltending their likely the front runner for the central.

Edmonton has 10 former 1st round picks in their lineup. Their lineup will dominate the year after next. It should also be fairly strong this season.

Tigers - I think they have a shot, but I feel they would need a strong import and likely an impact player up front to bolster their top end depth. If come trade deadline time their nowhere near where we thought they would be, it may be time for a re-balance.
Never know what a change in coach will do either.

I think the early season favourite is Calgary, but it could be a coin toss when I'm ready to release predictions.

I think tigers need to upgrade their 20s which there should be some to snap up. Also, Hollet should get some return - maybe to Calgary - and they have some possible returns that would work for us.

Also so very very very happy that Willie has taken over. Have billeted over the years and have had a lot of discussions with kids under both coaches and know Willie seemed to have something that few have, a connection with the young guys and respect for them. I think it goes a long way to having a happy dressing room and guys who will play hard for the coach/team.

Want to clarify not saying Shawn did not have that. But I think Willie has the knack for it that makes him rather unique.

I do remember when Willie was here he would let the players play speak for themselves.
The players would be given a chance with more minutes and then if they couldn't perform to a higher standard they understood as players that they're not ready for that icetime.

That would fuel them to rise up to the challenge and work on their game. They were also given small snippets of responsibility here and there.

Whereas Clouston wouldn't give them a chance until injuries happened or his hand was forced. IMO this is the reason why most(not all) would demand out under clouston. They felt like they weren't being given an opportunity to succeed and self-sacrificing. Eventually, they were unable to self-sacrifice anymore.

A Player needs to experience and fully understand why or why not they are getting the icetime, rather than a coach just saying no.

-----------
Right now I don't think they would upgrade their 20's. Unless it involves balancing their defensive group and adding an OA back there, which is a possibility. If the Tigers are in a position to go for it come January and they could potentially upgrade then.

A new coach could potentially spark a player or two.

I don't think the Tigers would want to trade Hollett to Calgary either. Calgary's goalies stepped up in the 2nd half of the season. Also, they have Malm, Kastelic and Krebs, which is a pretty good group. I doubt the Tigers would trade him to a direct rival they may be competing with.

Brandon
PA
Swift
Kootenay
Kamloops

Could be interested.

Any word on Russian star Vasily coming?

Anonymous said...

Vasily has a KHL contract until 20/21 so I doubt he will come

Wondering if they will get Henry Smith signed. He was the tigers 34th overall pick and I hope they can sign both second rounders. Did he attend the most recent camp?

K Smart said...

Anyone know if Smith was interested in playing WHL? Would be unfortunate to miss out on a high pick.

Anonymous said...

Smith was not at camp. Is it possible he had other commitments. Kids this age often still play other sports or do other things.

Anonymous said...

from what i heard smith had prior commitments. I hear he'll be here in August though

I saw Sogard is projected to go in the 3rd round, any thoughts on if he will go earlier?

Clouston head coach of Kamloops. http://whl.ca/article/kamloops-blazers-name-clouston-as-head-coach-sydor-as-associate-coach

TigerTurf said...

Good Luck to him in Kamloops.

Kamloops also hired Darryl Sydor as an associate coach who was an offensive type defenceman. I think he is an owner and coached in the nhl as an assistant for a while.

Kamloops has struggled a bit putting together a winning atmosphere so I think it's a good environment for sean to go to.

From what I've heard their is 1 clear cut goalie that is above the rest.
The next batch of goalies are fairly close and their is quite a few of them.

Goalies are pretty volatile. Unless an NHL system is hurting for goaltending prospects it would make sense to wait until round 3, or late round 2. I expect many NHL teams will have that mentality.

I think it's more likely he goes in round 3, but if a team really likes him and has a late 2nd round pick ( or multiple 2nd round picks) they may go for him.

Mads Sogaard picked early in Round 2 going 37th overall to Ottawa. Ottawa moved up in the draft to pick him
