Medicine Hat, ...Schneider to Hitmen for Draft pick

Medicine Hat, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers announced on Friday morning that they have traded goaltender Nick Schneider to the Calgary Hitmen. In exchange for Schneider the Tigers will receive a 2019 4th Round Bantam Draft Pick.

“We would like to thank Nick for his contributions both on and off the ice,” stated General Manager and Head Coach Shaun Clouston, “We wish Nick all the best in Calgary with the Hitmen.”

Schneider is coming off a 2016-17 season which saw him appear in 47 games and post a 32-11-1-0 record with a 3.43 goals against average and an .886 save percentage. Schneider finishes his Tigers career appearing in 133 games overall and recording 74 victories since being acquired from Regina in 2013-14.

This past season Schneider received the Tigers’ Community Service award along with teammate Mark Rassell for his contributions within the community through his self-started Student of the Month program.

Schneider is currently under contract with the NHL’s Calgary Flames.

Trade Breakdown:

To Medicine Hat:
•2019 4th Round Bantam Draft Pick

To Calgary:
•97 G Nick Schneider
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3328410439347632491.post-90878828487837395092017-05-25T00:51:38.292-06:002017-05-25T00:51:38.292-06:00I really like the move. Finally, we have a goalie...I really like the move. Finally, we have a goalie who will play long term in the net. Finally we have drafted a goalie who will take over from this one. Schneider needs a fresh start. I like the kid, a lot, he has a ton of talent, but he needs a fresh place to go. I wish him all the best! Boullion as well!
Bradley was the forward overager that I was hoping they would send to another team. Good guy, great player and in Regina he will go to the Mem Cup and hopefully bolster his resume and get a signing out of it. All the best to him!
I liked this goalie through the year. Hopefully he is ready to be a starter. I like the looks of the team already! He choos...I read an article that interviewed Makar. He choose to go the college route because as a smaller guy he would get more development time. Play in Junior A for a few years, and then potentially 4 years of college.

He has already committed already to a US NCAA program for next season, so its doubtful he comes here.

On the Various Projected Scouting lists he is rated anywhere from 5th overall to 15th. That means he has an excellent chance at being a first round pick.
----

He probably won't last the full 4 years before moving on. I Imagine if he is drafted in round 1 his philosophy of needing more development time may change a bit. A few years ago the Tigers didn't expect to get Tyler Pitlick either.
