Canada's Under 20 Selection Camp

Well no Tigers were directly invited, Minus Willie Desjardin of course.
However One list player and a former listed player of the Tigers were invited to Canada's Selection Camp camp.

Dylan Olsen, and Patrick Wiercioch were invited.

Olsen is a listed player, who the tigers are trying to recruit.

Wiercioch was originally listed by the tigers but was traded to portland in the Micheal Sauer deal.

Wiercoach eventually didn't report, and went to the NCAA route.

Edit1:
TSN has an article about the NHL scouting Combine which is being held this weekend.
No Mention of Linden Vey so far, but DYlan Olsen was mentioned as having a poor showing at the Bench Press for a 6'2 205lbs kid. but there is a note saying kids from non major junior hockey tend to do not as well as the other kids.

Edit2: Hockey Night In Canada just had a piece on Darren Helm. About how he got cut and had to play Junior B for a year before making the tigers, and getting drafted.

Edit3:
It was On Don Cherry's Coaches Corner. Here is the Video, the piece about Helm starts about 5 minutes in.

Darren Helm approaching NHL Record?

if your a tiger fan or like hearing about Darren Helm check out this article about him
http://www.greatesthockeylegends.com/2009/05/darren-helm-modern-day-eddie-mazur.html

Darren Helm has 4 goals all NHL Playoff goals, but he has yet to score in the regular season. So what is the record for most playoff goals without scoring during the regular season?

The answer?

Eddie Mazur and Darren Helm both scored 4 times in the post-season before accruing a NHL regular season goal. One more goal in the playoffs and the record is all .............HOLY CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

THE RECORD IS HELM'S He just scored in Overtime to give the wings the series. Quite Ironic. As i was writing this he scored! haha

Give Kelly Hrudey credit he picked Helmer to score during the intermission .

I guess I should add He also threw 12 hits during the game. The next closest guy was Brent Seabrook with 5.

HUGE NEWS + rumours

http://www.tsn.ca/chl/story/?id=278494

Willie Desjardin Appointed Head Coach of the 2010 World Junoirs.

Edit: I'm a little surprised that Buffalo hasn't signed Tyler Ennis yet. He is expected to make Buffalo's AHL affiliate in Portland next year, and Buffalo has already signed their other first round pick in Tyler Myers from Kelowna.

Edit2: There has been a rumor going around about the Tigers trying to Convince Potential First Round NHL Draft Pick Dylan Olsen to come play for the Tigers next Season. His original Plan was to play in the AJHL then go over and play NCAA hockey.

From what I've heard is that he is reconsidering his options.

Getting a player of his Calibre would be a powerful boost to the tigers lineup. He would be exposed to top notch competition while playing for one of the best coaches in Major Junior Hockey. IF the NHL route fails for him he would still have free tuition for every year he plays in the whl.

I know its still early and anything can happen, but I'm feeling very optimistic about the potential the tigers have for this year and the immediate future. Especially if the Emerson Etem, and Dylan Olsen rumors have some truth and they decide to join the Tigers for Next Season.

Kelowna Rockets Are WHL Champions

Congrats to the Rockets. They Defeated the Calgary Hitmen 3-2 in Overtime. Taking the Series in 6 games.

The Hitmen lost such talented players last year such as Karl Alzner, Ryan White, and TJ Galiardi, and somehow managed to not only meet but exceed the expectations of the previous year. They were such a dominant team during the season, a bitter pill to swallow for them I'm sure.

Imagine what type of team the rockets could of had if Luke Schenn was still in their Lineup. The Rockets were picked to be a good team at the beginning of the season, but after a goaltender controversy and an average start, they didn't really light on fire until the end of the Season, winning 12 of their last 13 games.

For Them TO pick Up Guggenburger so cheaply(5th rounder) was a steal.

Edit: The Rockets Owe the Bronco's a conditional Pick, based on HOW far Guggenburger made it in the playoffs, and whether or not he comes back next season.

I watched him a few times when he was with Swift Current, and I thought he played really well positionally and had pretty quick reflexes. He was the type of player I thought could excel given the right situation.

I believe I heard them say on the radio that this will be Kelowna's 4th Memorial Cup appearance in 7 years. That is pretty amazing.
