Canes Defeat Tigers 5-2

Tigers 5 game winning streak comes to an end

 Quick Summary
The canes were really fired up at the beginning of the hockey game. They oushot the Tigers by a wide margin early and had sustained periods of pressure in the Tigers end.

The canes scored 2 goals in the last 2 minutes of the first period, as well as 2 goals in the first 5 minutes of the second period to chase Cam Lanigan from the net.

1st goal was a deflected in off the post.
2nd goal Lanigan made a nice save from the high circle, but a pinching Rylan Pilon put the rebound in over a diving Lanigan. PP Goal

3rd Goal was a quick passing play behind the boards out in front.
4th Canes goal was a wider angle shot that Cam left a big rebound right to a Hurricanes player.

After Lanigan was pulled the Tigers started playing a little better. Shinkaruk had a blast from the high slot, and Trevor Cox tipped a point shot by Kyle Becker.

The canes sealed the win with an empty netter after Derek Ryckam bobbled the puck coming out of his own end.

 Thoughts
Tigers couldn't fully match the intensity of the Hurricanes at the start of the game. They gave up a couple big rebounds which the canes capitalized on. Canes outshot the Tigers by a wide margin.

The Tigers had a handful of chances, Rimmer shut the door when he needed to.

For once it didn't seem like this game was as chippy as in games past between the two teams.

Thought this would be a tough one. Seems like we were slow to start and when we got going we were already in the hole. But good on them for trying to fight back - you learn a lot from that! 53 shots is too many, they really need to help the goaltenders out more!
Nothing to hang your heads about, stuff to learn and take away from this one. Let it behind and onto the next!

My friend at the game said Bus and Jensen had brutal games and questioned why we have Bus on the team and especially wearing an "A" (this coming from a hurricane fan) every time they lose it seems to be the same story, horribly playing defence, they cant just expect Langian to win them every game with out the back end helping out and doing their job which through most of those 5 wins Langian completely won us the game

Canes were fresh and well-rested, Tigers were probably running on fumes. Had to figure a game like this might be coming. They'll be better on Sunday again, no doubt.

Damn! Was hoping for a better result. On the goals on Lanigan we were just relying on him too much. We need to make sure he is getting the help he needs.
Nice to see Langhammer look more consistent and confident in net. His style is still a bit scary to me but was glad to see he was playing a bit more out of his net! Keep up the good work, obviously working hard!

Watched the game online, Tigers had a really rough/slow start and looked somewhat tired. Lethbridge started the game with jump and were definitely the better team for the first 30-35 minutes if not more, can't blame it on any one or two players as everyone struggled with turnovers, mistakes, etc. tonight but that's the inconsistency of junior hockey.

We were going to lose sooner or later. I did not think it was a bad game. Some mistakes that were costly. We will get back on track. It does burn us when Bus has a bad game. He is very hot and cold.

i think Bus points mislead how average he is with a -10 you cant help but think that all of his points are on the power play........great i though we just got through the Coyle, Isherwood stage of this team.......on the plus side a team could see him for trade bait and we could swap dmen that would easily become a win win

News flash for anon 9:58pm, when a team gives up 53 shots it's not just one guy who isn't performing well it's the whole team not doing their job defensively. Forwards not being responsible leads to a lot of odd man rushes, which lead to a lot of good scoring chances for the opposition. Also time to give Langhammer a start, Lanigan kicked out some juicy rebounds last night which to me means he's getting a bit tired.

You know it seems that every year Tiger fans have to have a whipping boy on defence: Isherwood, Konan, and now Busenius. There are others in the past too, but why do we always focus on one player so much? I enjoyed the 5-game winning streak but they are still learning and maybe they were a little cocky in this game. I'm sure they will kick Ice butt on Sunday!

They weren't cocky, they weren't tired they just got dominated its not that hard to come up with a conclusion a team is simply better than them in almost every aspect, way better D, very physical depth scoring and goaltending they have a slight advantage not to mention the Tigers are brutal away from home ice

We got out worked throughout the game. Bit of a disaster on that tumble and turn over in the last minute of the game.

Guessing that anon 2:02 is a Canes fan. Yes the Canes were much better last night but I would question the depth scoring comment. Tigers have scored 16 more goals than Lethbridge playing only one more game and playing six more road games. Canes have had a very soft schedule so far, lets see how they do once they get away from the friendly confines.
