Some Quick Thoughts
Miles Koules out with the flu. Shinkaruk was back in the lineup
Their was a fan bus from Calgary here and the Tigers gave them absolutely nothing to cheer about. The Tigers reached the .500 mark for the first time this season.
Marek Langhamer recorded his first whl shutout.
I thought the Tigers did did an excellent job supporting each other in the defensive zone and didn't give Calgary many prime scoring chances. Their PK was impressive stopping all 8 Calgary power-play's, including a 5 on 3.
Calgary pushed back in the second period with some strong physical play. The Tigers were challenging them to fight but Calgary didn't want any of it until the third period when the game was in hand. They seemed to be targeting Curtis Valk a lot with little shots all over the ice.
The young guys played very well and were often penning Calgary's top line in their own zone. I thought Calgary started the game off a little slow but the Tigers were ON tonight and that makes back to back wins against the Top team in the Eastern Conference.
Lethbridge and Red Deer both lost, while Saskatoon only managed 1 point. So the Tigers gained another baby-step in the standings. Unfortunately Kootenay won again which makes a non-playoff spot still 4 points back.
Ever Since they lost to Saskatoon 7-2 on January 1st we have seen a different team, a much improved hockey team.
Next Up: The Rebels come to town Sunday. For another big 4 point game.

ITUSBoaThought it was the best all round effort of the season. Few breakdowns and Langhammer was there to make the save when there was. I agree the kids were great tonight.
God i love that Doty is a Tiger
There was one play last night that really impressed me and it came almost at the end of the game with the outcome already decided, and that was Logan Mcveigh laying out in front of a slapshot trying to protect the shut out for his goaltender. Think that tells you all you need to know about that kid.

I have to agree with Longtimefan, that was a selfless act by McVeigh. I was always a Hart fan but I think this kid is more a team player.
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet Victory!
I agree and have felt that McVeigh brings more passion to the ice. I think he is here for the team and not himself and that is what the Tigers needed.
As for the play, I think we are seeing what the coaches have been trying to build. The first half of the season was learning what is expected and growing as players, now they are playing the game the coaches wanted. This is good hockey!
Good to see the Tigers getting returns on their hard work! Keep it up boys! These trades are so far looking awesome!
