Tigers Take Game 2 3-0

The Tigers lead the Series 2-0
Game1: 4-1 Tigers
Game2: 3-0 Tigers

They have the blades fuddled as I thought the Tigers played a strong game from start to finish. The Tigers fired 43 shots on net and had a bunch of scoring chances.

The Tigers play in their own end and neutral zone has been a huge difference slowing the Blades down and the forwards are being patient making the right plays to fight for every inch of extra ice.

Tonight the Tigers had a lot of chances but it was the lucky bounces that helped them score some goals. In the first Period I thought the Tigers outplayed the blades but didn't have much on the scoreboard to show for it.

In the second period the blades got into all kinds of penalty trouble taking 5 penalties.
In the second Period On a 5 on 3 Miles Koules shot was partially re-directed right to Trevor Cox and he opens the Scoring again with a shot from the Slot. 1-0 Tigers.

In the third period the Tigers Koules, McVeigh, and Pearce completed a very pretty 3 on 2.
Pearce hesitated and tried a pass to Koules but it got re-directed right to Logan McVeigh. McVeigh then made a nice pass over to Miles Koules who had a wide open net. 2-0 Tigers

The Tigers sealed the deal when Boston Leier, and Tyler Lewington 2 on 1'ed a puck past the blades defender battling for the same puck and it was Tyler Lewington who popped it into the open net.
3-0 Tigers

Both teams now have a 3 day rest. If at all that should help the Blades look over video and try to make some tweaks. Both teams will be rested.
Prior to the Game Blades Jessy Asltes was given a TBD suspension for Hitting Matt Staples. They showed the Replay on Shaw and It looked like Astles came from the blindside. Staples probably has a concussion so Astles might be given more than one game.

I think a lot of people expected a 2-0 Series Lead however I think 99% of them thought it would be in favor of the blades.

I don't know what to say, the Arena should be off their rockers for games 3 and 4 on Tuesday.  Bring your jerseys, your noise-makers, your boisterous uncle? I wanna see a sea of orange To support these boys for their Hard Work!

As of 2:00 PM Friday afternoon their were still tickets left.

GO TIGERS!

These guys deserve to celebrate tonight, but the series is far from over. The blades will be bringing their absolute best Tuesday.

The blades will need their best as so far they have looked poor. The Tigers are playing their systems perfectly, Lanigan has been amazing, defence has been outstanding (including our forward like Shinkaruk) chipping in. They Tigers will win if they keep this play up. The Tigers foot speed and quick passing seems to have the Blades confused. Should be a good couple games here at home. The arena is hell to play in for the opposing team, so lets get it rocking!!!!
GO TIGERS GO!!!!!!!!!

Rumour mill states Ferland of the Blades still has a bum shoulder, and not 100% healthy.

Ferland may be hurt but what about the 15 19 year olds and the whole rest of the team?? Just can not explain what is going on, but I like it!!

There has been a lot of posts on this blog this year about the coaching staff and specifically Shaun Clouston and how he has lost the team etc, etc. I have been critical of how he has run the bench at times but I have to say after the first two games of this series the coaching staff has to be commended for the game plan they have come up with for the first two games of this series. Teams that have suppossedly quit on the coaches don't play like they did in games 1 and 2. Granted two games don't make a series and the Blades could very well come back and win this thing, but for now it looks the Blades and their staff is totally befuddled with what the Tigers did in the first two games. Can the Blades counter?, Guess we will find out Tuesday.

The Blades did not look to be able to keep up to the tempo of the Tigers. Have they not been hitting the gym lately or what? Shocking really!

I agree the coaching staff deserves credit on this. No, they have not lost the team. Even if we lose this series (which is what we all thought would happen) no one would have ever guessed the tigers would walk in and take the first 2 games. That was good coaching. Even the Shaw announcers were commenting on how much the tiger coaches were talking to the guys on the bench. There is a good atmosphere in that dressing you, that you can tell! Now lets bring that to game 3 and 4 adn this time us fans can help the guys out on the ice!!! Go tigers go!

I think the Blades thought this would be over in 4, probably too cocky. But now they find themselves in a really tough situation. And are now entering, most likely, the toughest arena to play in. Lets help make this even more difficult for the Blades, the louder the fans are, the better for the Tigers and hell on ice for the Blades! GO TIGERS GO!!!!!!!!!!!

What i love is how the Blades D seems afraid to throw big hits all of the sudden. Doty is a star even if he doesnt show up on the scoresheet

Clouston is a genius tactician in the playoffs - always has been. Go back 4 years when they completely beat Kootney at their own game (Willie gave Clouston the credit for winning that series by developing a smothering game plan). Then Red Deer in 5 a couple years ago and sweeping Stoon last year.

The system that was used in Toontown was and is the same system that Clouston has been preaching all year.
Clouston has preached a team approach since day 1. When the players buy in to this team approach we have a good chance to win. Throughout the season fans have seen this for a game here and a period there. We just witnessed 2 games in a row of the TEAM approach to winning.
The team played with a high level of execution from the opening faceoff right to the final whistle.
We played like a veteran team with loads of playoff experience yet we are just a bunch of young bucks cutting thier playoff teeth.
What really impressed me was that the boys didnt let thier emotions get the best of them. They played at an even keel throughout. No panic or urgency at anytime, just played and trusted the system.
I said weeks ago that there was lots of puck left to play and we just needed to fine tune ourselves for playoffs. I didnt think the boys would be fined tuned and full of piss n vinegar at game 1.
Its a great time for everyone to jump back on the bandwagon. Hope you didnt break your ankle when you fell er I mean leaped off.

Good things happen when the team buys in. Lets hope they keep their heads together and use the crowd at the arena to their advantage! Lets help them out! Go tigers go!

Tigers deserve credit but,,heard Rhett Warrener state a few days ago on Calgary radio that the Blades best scenario was to play a couple rounds then rest up for Memorial Cup.
...Are the Tigers getting Blades best effort?, or, if guys like Ferland are still injured are the Blades "intensely practising" and pulling the chute earlier than planned these playoffs? Wins are wins I guess but curious about the other guys motivation (haven't caught games on TV)

Give Credit where Credit is do..... the Tigers are playing with heart and beating the almightly Saskatoon Blades. Not because of an injury or any other excuse you can dream up.

The Blades are so easy to hate, so cocky and full of themselves. Let the "on the edge" cameras follow them around to a disappointing finish to their Cinderella season.

Tigers coach and players took bait, hook line and sinker. Good team (almost) but are they really wearing down the blades? Tigers have more to prove, maybe play Lamghamer golden goalie of the future ? If this is building then build. Blades are going to the show regardless , tigers could make them work for it. Tigers are good, but this is nothing to do with Clouston, boys like to play. Coach along for the ride.

If the blades were superstitious perhaps thwy want the Tigers to beat them? Kelowna 2004, Vancouver 2007, Blades 2013?

You know nothing if you think Clouston is not to thank for their success, you clearly have never been a player!!

The Jessy Astles suspension was finalized at 2 games. So He will miss game 3.
