“No, we brought him in last month, we got him assessed by our doctors and he has seen doctors in his hometown in Calgary,” Gilman said. “We feel we have a handle on what has occurred with him and he will recover fully.”

Quote from vancouver newspaper about shinkaruk.

So the question remains then, why has he not been playing with his club team? I'm hearing that some of his team mates aren't exactly thrilled that he hasn't been playing here.

Time to trade Hunter

Clouston driving out Jensen seems like speculation. Not what I have heard from the dressing room at all. And if there was truth to that then why would he quit and not ask for a trade. No truth to Cloustin being the problem.

Could see it coming, why keep a guy with less then 20 points on the season. I would want a team player and an offensive guy out there.

If you try and trade #9 this is a tough time to do it
..if he is indeed hurt(?) then you won't get much from others that would seem equal in value since they would have to wait for his rehab before seeing results
...if he is the "off-ice distraction" that seems to now surface would teams possibly risk poisoning their locker room for the final piece for a big playoff push...
...maybe only a few teams that could be partners
#1 Vancouver, Victoria or Seattle so the Canucks can monitor him closer or

#2 Calgary so his family can be near to keep his head straight.

best think for the captain to do is come back learning that gritty play isn't a swear word and light it up, and then see what happens although deadline comes up pretty quick.
Seasons greetings to everyone in Tigernation!!!

Time to trade hunter. Jensen,s numbers speak for them self. might as well trade our first round pick away we haven't had a keeper since Bunz! Businius, Jensen, Cody Carlson, all busts!

Anonymous said...

How on earth do you see Bunz as a bust!

Anonymous said...

It reads we haven't had a keeper since Bunz!

TigerTurf said...

Not saying I necessarily agree but I think he meant to say: hasn't had a keeper since Bunz.
---------------

Sometimes a player needs a fresh start. If the Tigers traded hunter they would need equal value in return, and its going to be extremely hard to trade a goal scorer for immediate returns.

Markus Eisenschmid is wearing an "A" for Team Germany

According to a poster on the white board, sports talk radio in Vancouver is saying Shinkaruk is being shut down and will have season ending surgery.

Shinkaruk will have hip surgery and miss the remainder of the season.

I see Zac Robidoux got his first taste of WHL action last night. What's up with that?

TigerTurf said...

Their has been quite a bit of news lately but I'm away on holidays. Will miss tonight's game as well.

Kinda heard the writing on the wall when some real estate went up for sale a little bit ago.

Torn Labrum + other stuff which they did not say. Minimum healing time 4 months which puts it at May 7th, which would be game 2 of the whl final. So unless the Tigers make the memorial cup it is likely Shinkaruk's days as a Tiger are over.

If he would have opted for surgery in November....a 5 month healing schedule would see him back for round 2 of the playoffs...but that offer no guarantees....World juniors is a once in a lifetime type thing, I don't blame him for trying for it.

Disappointing. Shinkaruk still has some things he needs to learn, but I don't see him learning those things in Tiger-Town.

Posting mid-year review next week.

Also Marek Langhamer backstopped the Czech's to a 5-4 Shootout win over Team Canada

Dylan Busenius traded to Saskatoon.

Zac Robidoux and Cody Schlosse dressed as the goalies tonight. Is Daniel Wapple hurt?

Anonymous said...

I feel like a idiot seeing now that Cody Schlosser is to old to be playing junior hockey, but Zac Robidoux is listed as the starter tonight or maybe that is a glitch?

Daniel Wapple was taken out of the game in Lethbridge for procautionary reasons due to an accelerated heart rate.

CatFan said...

Daniel Wapple had heart issues in Lethbridge on Friday night and had to be rushed to the hospital after the 1st period. I hear he will be o.k. but will have to be watched carefully from now on.

I heard that he has flu.

Where did Christopher Tai go? Why did he not play in the last game and why is he not listed on the Tigers roster?
As for Jensen asking for a trade. I have no problem with it, I prefer to see the guys like Staples earn the ice time. I do not think ice time should be given to you just because you were a first round pick. I would have no time for people feeling entitled to ice time, you must work for it and earn it.

Hobbs with a number of points including a goal in the U-17s, can we not get him up on the team. He will easily fill Jensens shoes (if not exceed them) and trade Jensen for a power forward with size. Seems like an easy solution.
Go Tigers Go!!!!

Any news on Wapple? He is not listed on the injury list as of Dec 31.

Hobbs is 16 and you have to play a certain amount of games (can't think of it without looking up), and I know that there is not enough games left for him to play that minimum games this season.

Got lots of time so I thought I would do a recap of how the Tabbies prospects did at the Mac's tournament:

Calgary Flames: Mark Rassell had 2 goals and 2 assists in 4 games. Cale Makar (listed as AP) got into 2 games and didn't record any stats. Riley Morris started 2 games and eventually replaced Austin Hannaford in another, he had 1 win, 1 loss, 72 shots saved against 77, .940 SV%, and 1.88 GAA.

Edmonton South Side Athletic Club: David Quenneville had 3 goals and 2 assists in 5 games. All 3 of those goals were on the PP.

Lloydminster Bobcats: Mason Shaw had 1 goal and 5 assists in 4 games. Austin McGrath started 2 games and went 1-1, had 51 saves against 62, .820 SV%, and 5.50 GAA.

Red Deer Optimist Chiefs: Gabe Bast had 1 goal and 2 assists in 3 games. Chase Olsen had 1 goal and 1 assist in 4 games.

Valley West Hawks: Matt Bradley had 1 goal and 6 assists in 4 games.

Vancouver NW Giants:Ty Schultz had 1 goal 2 assists in 4 games.

Vancouver NE Chiefs: Caleb Fantillo must have got hurt before the tournament as their official roster didn't have him.

Thanks for that. I'm about to post my mid-season thoughts and I will re-post that in the comments section.

The coaches expect Wapple to start in swift. No news On Tai but I think the Tigers wanted to get Robidoux some experience while they could.

Judging by his twitter feed Robidouz is pumped he has gotten a couple wins as a Tigers. He made a couple really good last minute saves against kootenay.
