Season Ticket Packages are Out

I got mine in the mail Today.

Season Ticket Exchange

The Ticket Exchange is being held August 12-14th. You can pretty much guarantee that quite a few people will be utilizing that. I personally got moved one section over, and would have been interested in the seat exchange however I will be on holidays and looks like I'm locked.

Prices
The Price of the  base season ticket remain the same. However their are a couple "new charges". A "Facility Fee"   $2.15 a game for everyone.  Which adds about $80 to season ticket holders bill.

Their is also a "service charge" fee $2.75 for walkup, and $1.90 for season tickets. Walkup pay that charge everytime they buy a ticket. Season ticket holders pay that charge once for their tickets.

I've calculated a 24 game cutoff, where If you plan on seeing less than 24 regular season games it would make financial sense for walkups, however the convenience of the same seat is also not there, so I would bump that numbers down to about 20 games.

Their will not be a charge for parking! August 7th is the deadline to pay.

New Features
A new video replay scoreclock. That is a league standard I believe. The benches are now at the same side of the arena.

I would like to know when the facility is open to the public. I would like to talk a walk around. If anybody knows please make a comment.

Club Seats
Season Ticket holders get first crack at these. For $1500 to $2000  you can get seating at near centre ice, as well as first dibs on seating for any other canalta event, also "exclusive access to the VIP lounge". The seats are wider with more padding.

It kind of bugs me that the Tigers made a big deal of saying that season ticket costs remain the same when they actually increased by about 80.00. They could of been honest and said the price would go up due to higher facility costs and most fans would understand that. Don't brag about keeping the price the same and then listing the increase as a facility fee.

I am displeased that I have sat behind the tigers bench for 10 years now I am seated in the corner on the penalty box side I guess my fan patronage over the years starts again at day one, even after trying to communicate where I would like to sit! Back to the drawing board and 5 years of the good old seat exchange to get a seat behind the bench in section H :(

It is such a small difference that it seems like wasted breath to even complain about it. They have done right by the fans keeping the cost of tickets down. Everyone was expecting a raise in prices, the amount for a facility fee is so very very very minor.

I will not be renewing my tickets I am not happy with the seats we were given I will enjoy the new event center by attending the excellent concerts the canalta center is attracting.

I'm wondering, does anyone know what the walk up price is going to be? Seems to me it would make sense for the team to put that information out there. As TT says with the added costs if a person is planning on going to 20 plus games they would be better off to buy a seasons pass.

Not sure if there was a good way to go about allotting seats for season tickets. With the delay in signing the lease it really didn't leave a whole lot of wiggle room to get the packages out and get the information back in a timely matter. And with the building not open to the public until mid to late August it really wasn't feasible to parade people out there to personally pick their seats.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if the seats were randomly selected by computer or maybe if people with seniority could have been communicated with and chose where they sat? Oh the good ole texting no communication hurry up computer age!!

Anonymous said...

Wow, so many complainers. It is shocking really. Just shocking. I am excited to see a game at the new rink, excited for a new season, so my view might be slightly different, that did not make the game or the experience for me.

You all do realize that you can change your tickets at the seat exchange in August right?

TigerTurf said...

To Be Honest I think this is a really good deal for season ticket holders.

Brand New Arena with only an $80 dollar increase to seasons tickets.. Playoff games though look like they are for sure to increase however.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone have an idea when season tickets will be available to the public, I can't imagine there will still be a waiting list.

Anonymous said...

How can you have a seat exchange in the old arena. When your seat will be in the new arena.

Anonymous said...

It would be useful if the Tigers had a more detailed seat plan available that shows where your seat number actually is. Hopefully they have lots of computers set up in the old barn to make the switches on seat exchange days

My wife called down and they have a more detailed plan set up at the arena for those that would like to check out their location.

The seat exchange is in Canalta Centre later in August.

Price from tigers organisation remained the same. They can do nothing about what the facility decides to charge. It is $1.80, get over it.
As for seats, given the Toyota section there was going to be some movement. There is going to be a lot of seats to choose from, pretty sure you will all figure it out and still somehow, even from a slightly different view, be able to recognise and enjoy the same game that you watched from your old seats.

Anonymous said...

The seat exchange is NOT in the Canalta Centre.....That's my point...Whats the point of exchanging seats when you don't know where that seat actually is...Wife has mobility issues and in the disabled section you are only allowed one extra seat...Where do our 2 kids sit....Took us years to get proper seats that accommodated our family and now we have no guarantee that our seats will even accommodate mobility concerns. We have to pay up front to potentially discover that our seats wont be suitable... another day to waste at the seat exchange

Anybody out there happy with their new seats? Did anyone get their same seats on the north side? I go to the games with my son who is handicapped I communicated that I needed seats near an access in the top row and am in row 8 now not impressed.I wished they would have heard me out instead of me talking to the hand! Guess I will try my hand at the seat exchange, I wish they could have paid attention to my needs and others as well I am sure that they received alot of calls maybe they could have actually answered some in order received or by seniority?

Anonymous said...

Not a fan of how this has been handled. Consideration should have been given based upon seniority for selecting the new seats just like they did in Moose Jaw. We still don't have our package so don't know where our seats are but they could be on the retractable ones & that is not satisfactory. So I guess time off from work to line up on the 12th to get them changed!!! As for the pricing - check out the other arenas & see what the patrons get for the same price.

Tigers did a great job with the allocation of seats. Condensing 31 sections into 12 sections isn't the easiest job in the world. Some people are just spoiled from 20 years sitting in the same seat, it's a new building, everything is brand spanking new, accept the change and get out of the 70s.
I will be headed to the new building and it shouldn't matter where you sit if you're a true Tiger fan.

Go Tigers.

Omg Anon 1:49, a little less drama. If it is that bad, give up your seats, we will not miss you

Anonymous said...

1103 and 456 your probably happy cause you didnt get club seats but are still in the middle glad your happy I am not happy sitting on the goal line hope you give up your seats

Some of these comments sound like they come from Tiger Management, in the form of happy little Tiger fans. Everyone expected to pay more in the new building, so that's not an issue. Why would management do anything like Moose Jaw? It's no about being a loyal fan, it's about getting what you've paid for over a 45 year period. Now that's loyalty. There were a lot of years the team wasn't very good and we stood by them. They had a lot of time to get it right but they were so busy pretending they were not interested, just to get what they wanted. If some fans don't renew that is inevitable. They feel like they have been screwed.

Ever wonder why we don't have pre-season games? Ever wonder why Tigers don't get any of the special games the league puts on? Ever wonder why they don't apply for the Memorial Cup or Subway Series. We'd fill the rink at those events and we deserve to have them here. Must not be any money in it for the Tigers. Ever think about how much the other teams charge for their games and what they give the fans for being loyal.

What a bunch of pompous entitled whiners. If case you didn't know it costs to run a new facility so the cost has to come from somewhere. An extra $1.80 per game boohoo. I know as a fan that's not from Med Hat and only gets to a few games a year I can't wait to attend a game in the new facility maybe I will get to sit in a prime seat that some of you whiners don't think are good enough. Let me guess you are probably the same losers that rip on 16-20 year kids because they don't win every night.

Hope the tigers trade cox this year!!

Anonymous said...

Any body at tiger central wanna answer 912,s comment on why we never try to get subway series or chl prospects games???

Anonymous said...

I am certainly not from Tigers management!!!! I am nothing but a huge fan that is happy to watch games. My old seat never made the games for me. And a $1.90 as charged by the facility, seriously, shake your head. I agree with Anon 1:33, a bunch of entitled whiners. Please, dont come to the games. I already cant stand you!!!!

Anonymous said...

The $1.80 is from the facility, nothing to do with the tigers. Not sure why there is anger directed towards the tigers over this. Haters gonna hate. People need to stop b*tching.

Anonymous said...

I understood that the old arena was too small and did not have the capacity for the media that is required to host those events. In addition, other portions of the arena were not good enough - the score clock and ticketmaster tickets were not available.

Anonymous said...

So funny - clarification - the facility fee is $2.15/game & the service charge is $1.90 a one time charge per season ticket. A single ticket will $2.15 facility fee/game & a service charge of $2.75 for adults & $2.00 for youth & children/game. The Tigers have kept their portion of the tickets the same. The increase to an adult season ticket holder 2015 over 2014 is $79.40. Most people are not complaining about the pricing.

However, those who have been long time season ticket holders (I mean 20 - 45 years) are concerned about how the seat assignments have been handled. That is the Tigers & not the City of MH. Some have not had issues of requiring handicapped seating addressed; some have been trying for years (through the seat exchange) to get seats all in one or two rows; because of the new seats some have been moved to locations without any consultation. These are the fans, and yes they are fans, who have supported the team through the years when no one wanted seats - you could have rolled bowling balls down the rows & never touched a leg! So a little consideration in support of these fans is all that was being asked for instead of having to line up on a regular working day to try & pick a seat from a diagram. In addition 12 of the 15 rows in section L are now retractable seats - if you have ever sat on those seats they are "different" from the regular seats so yes it would have been nice to at least sit in them before paying for them!

As for those who are waiting to attend games - glad to know you are going to join us & pay for your season tickets! We have had a blast cheering for this team for 30 years!! Go Tigers Go

Good point post at 1000am all I was posting prior was that seniority could have been taken into consideration to those longtime fans who have been assigned to other areas too little too late now, but nice post!!! 133, 722, 811 very immature posts!! Good day tiger fans!!

Going to pose a question to those who are unhappy with the seats they were given to the new arena. Keeping in mind that there is no public access until late August, How do you propose that they should have went about allotting the seats? Have seen a few comments about having to take time out of their day to go to the old building to pick seats off of a diagram. Wouldn't you have had to do the same thing if access was allowed at the new site? Just asking. And I fully understand that not everyone was going to be happy with what they got but under the circumstances I really don't see a better way of doing it.

Anonymous said...

They could have had a lottery instead of shifting everyone a section over to accomodate people who didnt take club seats, or taken phone calls saying your call will be answered in the order it was received like on ticketmaster, or let people who have seniority choose first these ways would give people a fair shake that no one could complain about. The lottery is the way they pick the first overall pick in the nhl!! IMHO any of these 3 ways would have been more fair and more fun!!!

We have a new arena, a great team, a great city...... can we not just all be happy with that?!?! And we have a jumbo-tron!!!! Omg I thought the day would never come!
I think the team allocated seats the only way they could! My seats are different, going to go to the seat exchange at the new rink and see how they are. I am guessing they are fine, will still be in the barn for the game! Just so happy for a new rink to sit in! Going to be a good atmosphere!

If you build it they will come but careful where you park said...

I just heard that with purchase of a seasons ticket package the Tigers, Smg have teamed up with local Smart car dealer and are offering 1000$ discount and free parking to new Smart car owners to fit the stalls> LMAO......

When the arena convention center opened up I walked in lit a cigarette conversed with the ticket agent whom I knew and picked the seats of my choice and held those seats since day 1 now I have been placed in the next section in a different row. Yes it will be a state of the art building but I would have appreciated a little communication or choice near an exit, What day is the seat exchange and where is it located?

TigerTurf said...

This is my opinion only but I feel people are way too damn greedy/picky. I find it a bit preposterous that people are complaining about something like this. A one-time event, that has been a long-time coming. Their are a few exceptions of course like If someone had medical issues and suddenly was planted into the middle of a row.

I also don't like people complaining without offering a potential solution. I applaud the person who suggested the seniority thing, even though I don't fully agree with it.

I lean more towards the side that you should feel lucky that you sat and held onto prime seats for the same cost as everyone else.

Anonymous said...

Oh so we should be happy we are even offered a seat anywhere? Last time I checked we are all created equal and if we went to the seat exchange for 5 years until we finally got the seats we wanted we should have had a shot to keep them just like anyone else!. All season ticket holders should have had to get in line or be online or on the phone at a certain time on a pronounced date in order for the new seating to be fair then!

TigerTurf said...

Think of the logistics of a season ticket holder seniority seat exchange. You would also have to categorize season ticket holders into years, and have specific times for them to show up, then re-draw the map of where everyone is sitting on every "grouping". If your on holidays tough luck, you may get pushed out very far, and have no chance to change.

Your taking over someone else' seat which was just as hard earned as yours, but haven't been a holder for as many years, now your pushing them out, which they then might push someone else out. etc

I know quite a few people who have been very long time holders, that might even take the middle spots, which would push more of the middle into the corners. You would still need a seat exchange because the people who still got pushed out would be unhappy.

The only problem it would solve is for the 200-300 picky angry people now satisfied that their "hard work of showing up once a year" is maintained. While 2000 other fans are a bit angry because their seats are all more slightly misaligned. It would take a ton of time, and their is no benefit financially for the Tigers to do so.

In a demand/supply economy their is a simple solution. Pay more for the seats higher in demand, which is a standard in almost every single new arena/stadium in existence.

I do think it sucks for people who have been very long-time ticket holders, but I wouldn't doubt that those had first priority on redrawing where they sat.

Here is how the Moose Jaw Warriors did their new seat assignment - nothing complicated but it did recognize those long time fans. They were able to have first priority to choose a new seat based upon their seniority - note: only from those available so they were not "displacing" anyone from their "assigned" seat. The BIG difference here is they had their ducks in a row - beginning with fundraising months prior to the building being built & their major tenant signed before they put the shovel in the ground so they had time to give some consideration to their fans. LOL - but this is Medicine Hat & we do things differently :)

SEATING ARRANGEMENTS
When entering the Downtown Events Centre, all 2010/11 season ticket holders will be assigned a seat by the Moose Jaw Warriors by superimposing the previous map from the Civic Center into the new arena.  Your new seat will be similar seating to your previous seat.  Hopefully this answers some of the questions.

In the coming months, a letter will be sent to each ticket holder that will indicate their priority level along with a date and time for them to come view their new seat.  At this time holders can either accept their seat or choose a new available seat.  Once all previous holders have chosen a seat, new holders will be able to select seats.  Details surrounding seat allocation and purchasing additional seats for current holders will be released in the coming days.lders will be released in the coming days.

Yes I saw how MJ did it, their are some differences between the rinks on why that wouldn't work.

Moose Jaw does not have specific assigned "club seats" that the new Tigers building has that ate a chunk of the Tickets, which is largely why some of the displacement happened.

Moose Jaw crushed can fit 3150, the new place 4500. even if they had displacement it seems much easier to fit in as I don't believe they were "as full" season ticket wise as the Tigers were.

In some shape or form, because of the club seats their was going to be displacement. Even though their is 1000 more seats Displacing 300 affected people in one area it would be incredibly tough to fit everyone in regardless if they were given a choice of where to go.

So the displacement basically happened because of club seats and short on time. MH choose a 3rd party operator largely to attract more events than just hockey, MJ's operator is the city.

I am a long-time season ticket holder and I am happy with the arrangement of seats. I am very close to where I was in the old arena and I'm hoping most of the people who sat around me will keep their seats where they are as well. Most of the season ticket holders in my section said their main concern was losing the people they have sat with for many years and how much we would miss that. With this arrangement hopefully we will still sit with many of our friends from the old arena.

In response to "July 17, 2015 at 1:05 PM"

You know what else happened in Moose Jaw? All the old people who had seats close to the glass because it only required going down a few steps to get there in the Crushed Can kept their seats near the glass in the Mosaic Centre.

Problem is, in the new building, to get to the seats at the glass you had to walk up about 85 stairs and then down 40 more to get to the glass! So even in Moose Jaw, where everything went perfect according to you, there were issues. I bet people whined there too just like they are on here.

As usual, there was likely no perfect solution for every single season ticket holder. It seems that bitching and moaning over the slightest inconvenience has become the civic pastime of choice in the town. Get over it! New building is gonna rock and no one will give two craps by next season. If you hate your seat, wait it out a year and get new ones next year. Just quit whining. People whined about the old building, people whined about the new one, people whined about the cost...whine whine whine. Either start using that energy to cheer at the games or stay the heck home. Rant over!

On a different note I see the Tigers signed Matt Gerlach today. Kid out of Texas who wowed a lot of people when he was 9 with a stunning shoot out goal. I feel its going to be another good year of Tiger hockey.
