Tiger Connections
Layne Matechuk
One of the members of the Humboldt Bronco team was a former Tiger Draft pick Layne Matechuk. Matechuck was a 2nd round and 40th overall selection in 2015. I'm not sure if the Tigers still have his rights or not. He is 18, but in his 17yr old hockey season with Humboldt.
Former Tiger Bretton Cameron
Former Tiger Bretton Camerons' brother was also on the Bus. Yesterday Bretton Tweeted out that his brother was doing ok.
Bretton Cameron is currently the Captain for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL.I’ve heard my brother is doing ok. I’m absolutely devastated for him. His teammates. Staff. Organization. Family members and community. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved #prayforhumboldt— Bretton Cameron (@Bcamo) April 7, 2018
A few former Humboldt Players who went on to play with the Tigers Include
Deven Dubyk - 2009-2011
Ryan Olynyk 2000-2002
My heart and condolences go out to their team, family members and the hockey community.

No words can express the grief being felt over this tragic accident. I coached a sport for 18 years and drove thousands of miles both on buses and in cars and what happened yesterday was always my greatest fear. Bless their soles.
Not great news, but Layne is in a medically induced coma, in stable condition.
I heard there are one if not two kids who are alive but paralysed. Such a terrible accident. Shocks one to the core. God bless them.
Ryan Straschnitzki is one of the kids who will never walk again, but is able to move his arms and head. He isn't giving hope as he wants to make the Olympic sledge hockey team.
That is awesome to hear he has future plans!
Those plans are far off. This kid has no idea what is in front of him. It pains me to think of those who survived but the life long life changing injuries out of this is heart breaking.
Mason Shaw played last night for Iowa. Was a +1 on the night.
Trainer Dayna Brons has passed away. Brings the total to 16 now.
So nice to see the world wide support for the Broncos. Long road ahead for many still.
On another note, it seems that Q is done, judging by his twitter of "thanks" to the tigers and Cloustons reply how lucky the tigers were to have him for 4 years. Seemed like it is saying he will go pro.
So Sad to hear about their Trainer :(

I think that is Quenneville thanking the islanders, and the Tigers for helping him get to a point of signing a contract. I still think he is back in junior as a 20. I have a new post coming out soon on next season.
An article came out today and it was mentioned that Rassell would be going to an NHL camp as a free agent and looking for CIS invitations. Are you surprised he wasn't offered a pro contract?
I was hoping he would get something!
I'm wondering if he turned down a 1-year AHL deal because I wouldn't be surprised if some teams had offered him that. That's what I had him pegged towards.
I think his mind-set was ELC or CIS, and I feel he would be making the right decision going to the CIS if he wasn't offered a 3-year ELC.
Shaw only dressed for 1 game, sat out the last two.
Quenneville dressed for 2 games and had 3 shots, -1 rating.
Both their AHL teams are now done for the year.
---
If Curtis Valk can grab 1 more point in Sunday's game he will make the Top 10 in AHL scoring.
Rassell had numerous AHL offers after the Tigers season ended from what I heard. He is smart to wait and see if he can land a ELC as an FA. If not then his options are still open for CIS.
That's what I figured!
--------
I had a mistake above quenneville dressed for 3 AHl games not 2.
-2 rating, and 5 shots on net.
------------
Valk finished the season with a couple assists and ended up 10th in scoring with 62 points in 72 games. An increase in 16 points from the previous season.
Chyzowski ranked 95th amour North American skaters by central scouting. He was ranked 160th in the midterm rankings. Huge increase and very well deserved
