Cole Sillinger is a flight risk... meaning he could end up going the NCAA route. Love the pick, kid has unreal leadership qualites on top of being a player who will put up a ton of points.

Cole Sillinger, son of Mike, pure goal scorer.

Dru Krebs is the brother Peyton and Dakota. Three brothers, all in the same division.

Davis struggled with consistency this season, but he has high end talent, and could be a steal of a pick if he brings it every game

Pretty happy with this year's drafts, will be interesting to see who ends up cracking the roster.
Does anyone know when the CHL Import Draft is?

Seems unusual we would take a risk on kid who is undecided. Since we don't do that very often I'm going to say they are probably quite confident he will come here. Kid has a lot of talent and should be a star if he reports.

My type of player...
“I like to throw the body around and get under people’s skin,” he said. “I think I’ve got a great shot and I like to use my quick release and I’m a solid faceoff man, whenever our team needs to win a face-off I’m usually the guy taking it.”

Or...perhaps Cole was drafted as an instant trade chip for the coming season?? The trade history between Paddock and Clouston gives me the strong feeling he could be a Pat by next trade deadline. If the Tigers get Shaw back and/or even Quennville, they are going to be very good next season and the Pats will obviously be selling. Possibly as early as right after the Memorial Cup. With how late the Pats picked this draft and no chance of Smilanic playing for the Pats for at least two years (he made the US Development Program), they will be looking for another top talent to fill that hole.

I have heard Cole Sillinger could be looking at college, but I have also heard and read that he was looking to be a top bantam pick with the intention of playing juniors, and one of those interviews was with his dad. I would expect him to be back in Regina next season playing midget for the Pat Canadians and if Lukas signs and is playing with the Pats, and with Mike already in the organization(recruitment).... I guess it's just an educated hunch I have.

Say this theory were to come true...who would you guys like off the Pats??

Leschyshyn and Henry

Anonymous said...

Interesting thought but I don't see that happening. Paddock and clouston do have a history but it's extremely rare to pick a guy that high in the draft just to trade him. In terms of what would I want from Regina I think the answer for me would be nobody. Regina traded away so much to get to where they are at and they don't have many really appealing pieces. While Henry or Leschysn would help our team I don't think we are enough of contender next year to make a move like that.

Karla and Mike  Sillinger moved full time  to Penticton a few yrs ago so their 2 older sons  could play Junior A (you have to be 18 to play Junior A out of province).

Cole played at the Okanagan Hockey Academy last fall in Penticton. And Cole was honest to teams he spoke to leading up to the draft that he is keeping his options (NCAA or Major Junior).

Season ticket packages in the mail..

Some actual nice changes this year!!

I wont bother summarizing, as they do a good job themselves.
Maybe the actually heard some moaning from the fans and made some changes!

Maybe they heard the fans or maybe they actually said to themselves wow our attendance continues to go down maybe we should make a change.

Kadyn Chabot signed

"Interesting thought but I don't see that happening..."

Personally, I'd think the Tigers would be very interested in Leschyshyn for fairly obvious reasons, but I believe they'd be inquiring about a Robbie Holmes as well. He would bring size, physicality, and goal scoring ability. I figure he could put up 30 goals next season, especially playing with an older, skilled team. Could see them making a trade for Fleury as well, but the Pats would first have to be lucky enough to have him returned to junior for his overage season, which is really tough to say at this point. Would also likely mean Queneville wasn't returned.

As for being a contender... The Tigers SHOULD be at the top of the central division again, but better than last year(again, depends a bit on what guys are returned). Lethbridge could be be a very good young team next season, but they aren't going to be looking to be a top contender I don't think. Certainly not going to be buying, I would think.

I feel like many teams will be/are already building for the 2020 Memorial Cup in the WHL, which will see the Western Conference being stupid like the East this year and buying prices being silly again. If I were a Tiger fan, I would look at making a run next season then selling off their top 2000's to the highest bidders the following season and still be fairly competitive. Unless they are building around their own 2000's, which could easily work too, then chances are good my whole theory goes down the toilet...lol.

In the end though, I feel if they were to add a couple good 19 year old's next season, they should have a pretty strong team, especially with a strong supporting cast of 18 year old's. Next season will be more of a buyers market as well, so such trades aren't going to be so crippling.

I will also note, I'm a Pats fan who's really anxious to get this rebuild underway and both Sillinger's would help the team now and for the future. I predicted the Pats would trade Hollett for Bradley, Fischer, or Rassel(in that order of preference) two days before it happened last season, though I had hoped Paddock would try to secure Makar's rights in the deal. That was also an educated hunch after seeing the two teams player situations. Hoping I'm barking up the right tree again!

"Karla and Mike Sillinger moved full time to Penticton a few yrs ago..."

Actually, they only moved there "full time" last Fall (still own their house in Regina that they just had built), for the reasons you stated. Owen went there at 18 after playing his 17yo season for the Pat C's. Not sure if he went out there with one of his parents or just got billeted, but Cole and Lukas were still in Regina. Moving to Penticton for the winter(maybe more...??) worked the best for getting the best development for Lukas and Cole. Lukas committing to the Vees for the season and Cole to OHA to play against the top Bantam talents in the West/country. Mike joining the OHA staff, to me, seemed like he was offered a job or offered his services to help out the program and also for something to do while out there.

I say Cole ends up back in Regina playing for the Pats C's as they have a great program that is often tops in western Canada.

As for Lukas, he was drafted by the Melville Millionaires and they weren't expected to be very strong at all this past season and having a slim chance at decent minutes on a veteran Pats team hosting the Memorial Cup, things were worked out and he signed with the Vees, another top notch program that his brother already plays for.

In the end, I really believe this was all for the best development while the whole family could still stay together. The family has the money and ability to go where they want, when they want, so they're taking advantage of that freedom. If my theory(this is still all just my theory) is accurate, then Cole will be a star for the Pat C's and Lukas will damn near be a walk on to the Pats and given good ice time right off the bat with the younger line-up.

Of coarse, there is always the possibility that they both stay in Penticton as well, but for me, I don't see that happening.

The 99 group isn't strong enough to make a run next year. We are 110% building with our 00 and 01 group. We went out to get brown and lockner to make the 2000 group stronger, not so we could break it up in a year.

Anonymous said...

Don’t think you would break up the 00 or 01’s but I would consider making a few deals with your 02’s, draft picks and 99’s that you won’t keep as 20’s.

Anonymous said...

One change I would like to see would be to bring in a solid 99 defensemen who will be back as an overage. We currently don't have a 99 defensemen on the roster so this would create some better balance. Just think about what kirichenko did for us in his 20 year old year.
As it sits now the only guy who I can practically guarantee back at 20 from the 99 group is hamblin.
Ostir is probably next in line and then maybe Haden or preziuso.
So with this in mind I think trade a guy like preziuso or something like that and maybe add a draft pick for a 99 defensemen.

While the 00 and 01 groups are strong I believe having 3 99 overages is equally important.

Mark Rassell has committed to UNB for the 2018-19 season.

Anonymous said...

Rassell is a smart kid to go to university and not waste time hoping for something to come up in a pro contract. I always think guys do that hoping to make the NHL and then end up 10 years out, a career of $70k per year playing hockey but nothing to fall back on afterwards. Good for him, good luck to him, I hope he has a ton of success!

Anonymous said...

Dinos and Golden Bears recruited him too, that's a huge get for a team out East to get an Alberta kid to come to that side of the country.

I will be totally disgusted if Regina wins the Memorial Cup. As far as I am concerned they should just do away with this tournament. The hosting team loses money and if the Pats win after losing in the first round of the playoffs isn't that a hollow victory? I really hate the host team rule and until they change it I have very little interest in the outcome every year.

Anonymous said...

Who will be captain for next years team?

Anonymous said...

Rassell's game isn't complete enough for a NHL contract, smart move to go to school. But why out East?

Looking forward to watching Orientation Camp this weekend. I hope Sillinger signs afterwards

Anybody taking in orientation camp this weekend? Would help some of us outta of towners?

Cole Sillinger signed.

I am impressed Sillinger signed, the 2019-2020 team is looking better every day

Anonymous said...

I really like what I seen from sillinger. Good size, slick hands and has an unreal shot for a 15 year old. His backwards skating looked just okay in some of the drills but going forward he's got some real good wheels.
1 guy that really impressed me was Truman. Small guy but great patience with the puck and makes a lot of crafty heads up plays. Surprised he isn't signed yet

Anonymous said...

His mom and dad attended UNB back in the day, Im not him but it could have been a factor?

Anonymous said...

I hear Truman is considering playing NCAA and that is why he has not signed.

Dylan MacPherson has been invited to development camp with the Florida Panthers

Have a bit of a beef about our GM/Head Coach and Tim Horton's Camp Day promotion. Why is it he can't take the time to represent the team for a couple hours to promote a great fundraiser, but instead the Athletic Therapist and Assistant Coach do it. I think it's great that these two did it and good on them, however would it be too much to ask the so called guy at the top to be in the public eye for once. When Willie was here that was one day he always volunteered for and it was awesome for him to that. Been following twitter where a lot of other GM and/or Head Coaches of Canadian teams in the WHL volunteered their time which speaks volumes of their character. Just don't get it around here!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I remember hearing clouston say he was hopeful Truman would choose to play here. So I guess it makes sense that he is contemplating NCAA. That would be a big loss for us as he was a second round pick and looks like he has a lot of potential.

Anonymous said...

They need to get Truman signed. He has the potential of an Ennis. Would be a strong few years with Truman on board. Hopefully he wants to come!!!

Great Q&A with MacPherson on the Tigers' website. Good to see them promoting players!
I hope he does well at Panthers Camp!

Looks like Lethbridge intends to go for it in 2020 as well. They just announced their intentions to bid on the memorial cup.

Chyzowski and Craven were invited to the Toronto Maple Leafs Camp the same weekend as the NHL Scouting Combine... it will be interesting to see if they both get drafted next week

TigerTurf said...

Chyzowksi should get drafted. I'd take him in the 5th-6th round, but I think he will likely go in the late 6-7th rounds.
-----

Craven, was injured to start and end the year, also the Tigers didn't give him a whole lot of ice time. I think for those reasons it's hard-pressed to see him get drafted. I think at best a late 7th round.

I think he will turn out to be a pretty good player so he will need an NHL scout to go to bat for him.
