Tigers Deal Rybinski To Seattle

The Tigers have made a trade with the Seattle Thunderbirds for disgruntled forward Henrik Rybinksi. Rybinksi went home and demanded a Trade back on November 1st.

To Medicine Hat
Prospect Defenceman Aiden Brook   (4th round pick last bantam draft)   6'2 161lb
2nd round pick 2019
3rd round pick 2020

The Tigers website says Aiden is a physical defenceman with a long reach and has a good first pass.

Seems like a great deal. They get a potential 3-5 year player plus a couple draft picks.

The Tigers are a bit shorthanded up front with no spares, so I think we may see something else before the deadline.

Good return. Good riddance to Rybinski, not a team player and glad the team can move on.

Bjorkland is the real deal it appears. Never seen a 16 year old so calm and confident in the net - trade Hollett to where he can get his game back. Let Mads and Bjorkland build, both should be potential NHL draft picks if they keep this play up.

With Ostir our (so too bad he was starting to get going) wonder what the team will do - pull guys up until he is back or trade? Hope we do not acquire someone for now rather then the future.

It seems Calgary is looking to upgrade in goal but would we trade within our division and do they have what we need? I like Hollett but it just makes sense to trade him now while we can get a return for him and go with Mads and Garin for the rest of the year. We need more goal scoring up front, or an offensive type defenceman. I am very happy with the return for Rybinski as well.

We have traded with Calgary before, Schneider. Would like to see some more draft picks come back for him though. Call up some young guys and play the season out. With us in 3rd within our division and Calgary rapidly catching lets prepare for next year where we can make some real noise.

Not fond of trading a goaltender to Calgary ( or Lethbridge) unless it involves an impact player coming back and I don't think Calgary or Lethbridge would make that move.

Tigers could keep 2 strong tenders. Wait until things are known next season and make a move then. I could see a team like Kamloops looking at Hollett for next season after Dylan Ferguson moves on.

Trade deadline - If they stay status quo it won't surprise me.
They are very lean at 12 forwards with 2-3 currently injured.

Cole Sillinger won't be eligible for full-time ice-time until after his season is done (End of February to end of march depending on his teams playoffs) He will probably get icetime as soon as he is done and called up.

I'm wondering if the Tigers were planning on staying lean and calling him up at the end of the season.

Always the possibility they look for an impact scorer...they have an attractive goaltending piece.

I think the fight for the central is very interesting.

Medicine Hat & Calgary are getting hot, although the Tigers have gotten bit by the injury bug. Red Deer has slowly cooled since their hot start, but they will get their #1 dman back right away and that will be a big boost...but is it enough?

Lethbridge is in a mood to go for it. The past few years they have been mediocre up to this point, then made a few trades that magically turned them around. Do they make another big splash?

Edmonton has been bitten by the injury bug all year. What will happen in the 2nd half?
There is potential for some extremely close races.
------------

Some of my .02 cents in raw form.

Trade Deadline Is Today. Opened up comments for today.

If we could get half of what Swift Current got for their goalie we should trade 1 of ours to anybody looking whether in our division or not.

They won’t trade Sogaard and I doubt any team would even give up a 1st round pick for Hollett.

Which attractive goaltending piece are you speaking of

Williams to Edm for Kemp

Clouston will not trade either goalies...he has shown in the past he likes two viable options. THEY WILL NOT BE MOVED!!!

Oil Kings have confirmed the Williams deal.

I don't understand, I'm really surprised by trading Williams. I understand that he hasn't looked like a 1st round NHL pick like many scouts were predicting but there's room to grow. Why trade him for an older player without as much upside. Only way it makes sense is if Williams wanted out, still why not get more pieces for the future?

Here's a good idea, trade a projected top 2 round NHL pick straight across for an older undrafted player in a year that your don't have a chance in the playoffs.

Williams had to have wanted out as he's only 17 under the new rules. Sad to see him go but Kemp is a good player and should help with leadership group next year. Surprised there wasn't also a pick thrown in from Edmonton.

2016 WHL draft and we have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds. We sign them all and this is going to be a year we build around. Three of these (Rybinski,Price and Williams)ask to be traded. Fedyck dropped from the list. Only Baker is left. Good job Tigers.

For clarification, Josh Williams did not ask to be traded.

2016 draft players were never given a chance, wrong player was dropped, Baker. Van Impe should have been traded, Fedyck (was a physical presence, much needed) what a waste of talent by the Tigers as usual.
