Cole Sillinger Era Over

Cole Sillinger no longer appears on the Tigers Roster. He has been told he is staying in Columbus.

Columbus Injuries

Columbus recently lost Patrik Laine for 4 to 6 weeks. Today Sillinger has been practicing on the top line, including the Top Powerplay Unit.  Prior to his last game he was seeing steady icetime on the 3rd line and 2nd powerplay unit.  Last game he started on line2 and moved up to the Top Line by the end of the game.

That is quite Impressive for an 18year old to be suiting up on the top line when 2 months ago it was thought he would probably be sent down for more seasoning....However it's also a bad sign in terms of Overall Depth for Columbus.  I wish Sillinger well it's one heck of an opportunity.

Junior Eligibility

For most above average players, they play junior for at least 4 years. (16,17,18,19) before moving on. The exceptional players make that 2 years(16,17) before the NHL comes calling. Well Cole is an exceptional player , but with the Covid shortened season(s) we only got to watch him for 58 games, which includes 6 playoff games as a 15 year old rookie.

That is the Junior curse of drafting a very good player as sometimes the fruits of good scouting are plucked away early.

Speaking of 15 yr olds
Reid Andresen played in the shortened Covid year as a 15 year old.  He remains as the only 16yr old on the Tigers roster.

New Tiger
Defenceman Gleb Ivanov has joined the Tigers. He is an 18yr old defenceman from Russia. It may take him a bit to get adjusted as he recently joined this Wednesday and doesn't speak English.  His scouting report on Elite Prospect says he is a puck moving defenceman and isn't afraid to get physical.

19 Year Olds
With the trade of Caleb Wilms earlier in the season the Tigers only have a single 19yr old in Noah Danielson.  This means Youth and so far their record is in line with those expectations.
