The whl schedule is officially up.
The tigers first game is on teh road against the OIl Kings on September 19th
The tigers first home game is on september 27th when lethbridge comes to visit.
I will fully Breakdown the schedule and post the stats tomorow..or possibly later today but thats doubtful

Tigers make trade with Spokane
The Spokane Chiefs have traded defenseman Jace Coyle to the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for a fifth round selection in the 2009 WHL Bantam draft and third round selection in 2010.
“It is real tough moving a player of Jace’s caliber but at the same time we have the potential to return all eight defenseman next year as well as young list players who are ready to compete for a defensive spot,” Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz said. “We thank Jace for his contributions and wish him all the best.”
The 18-year-old appeared in 52 games as a rookie last year with one goal, nine points and was +8.

Tyler Ennis tears it up at teh WJC development camp
IT appears that Medicine Hat Tiger Tyler Ennis is playing really well at the Hockey Canada world junior development camp. In 2 games Ennis has a goal and 2 assists, and was named third, and first stars. Their last scrimmage goes later on today.

Dunstall Wins Ball Hockey Championship
Travis Dunstall helped team Canada to win the World Junior Ball Hockey Championship in St Johns Newfoundland. The game is not played on ice but played on concrete with an orange rubber ball.
Tyler Ennis put on a good showing over at the Buffalo Prospects camp. Scouts were impressed by his acceleration and quickness.
Former Tiger Ryan Hollweg was traded to the maple Leafs for a 5th round pick.
The last bit of news involves Tigers prospect Tyler Bunz. He was put on the top 48 players to watch list, with a possibility of being named to Team pacific under17 team later in the year.

CHL Import Draft + Trade
The tigers traded former 1st round pick Jordan Hickmott to the Price Albert Raiders, in exchange for swapping picks in teh chl import draft. The Tigers will receive the Raiders’ first round pick in today’s CHL Import Draft and move up to the 15th spot overall in the first round of the draft as well as the Raider’s second round pick in the draft (75th overall.)
With the 15th spot the tigers selected 18-year-old Czech defenseman Tomas Kundratek. The New York rangers took him in the 3rd round 90th overall in the 2008 NHL entry draft. Reading various blogs it appears he is ready to come and play in North America next year which is good news for us. Kundratek represented the Czech Republic in the 2008 world junior jockey championships as well as the 2007 world junior under 18 championships.
The tigers 2nd pick is yet to come.

Tigers take 3 notable awards at whl luncheon
Tyler Ennis has won the most sportsmanlike player of the year award for the whl.
Former Tigers Blair St. Martin, and Lanny McDonald have won WHL Alumni Association Achievement Award.

Helm see's Nhl Playoff action
Darren Helm saw some playoff action in the Nashville vs Detroit series.
In game 5 He recorded just over 6 minutes of action. Winning 4 faceoffs out of 5, recording 1 blocked shot, and 1 hit.
In game 6 he recorded 1 assist, +1, 3 shots, 3 face-off wins out of 8. 1 blocked shot, 1 takeaway, and 1 hit.

TIger News
Medicine hat Tigers defenceman has been released from phoenix. He was originally drafted in the 5th round of the 2006 nhl entry draft.
To me this isn't surprising in the least. Bendfeld showed a lack of physical play in his own zone, and had problems if someone went around wide at him. He never really "upped" his game a notch, and seemed content on sitting back. I think tyler ennis had just as many "Hits of the Night" than Bendfeld.
For a guy his size he doesn't take many penalties other than fighting majors. While this is generally a good thing, in Bendfeld's case, it may mean he's not playing that fine line of being more aggressive, giving opposition forwards hell to pay.
Will we see a new player come next fall? Maybe. His speed will hamper him. If he can develop a mean streak, step up and make a few BIG hits, play with a little more passion, I think its possible we see a brand new player. However that window of potential keeps growing smaller.
I hope next season he plays with a fire under his butt.
I think his size, and ability to fight big players will be enough to earn a minor league contract. But if he wants to have a prolonged career, he will have to do more.
