Ok Shaun ...no body in medicine hat is crying that you are gone. Treat your players and others as you did here and you will see how long you last in Kamloops!
Under Shaun we have had so few taken in the draft. Willie seemed to get guys drafted more often. Looking forward to see a few more tigers drafter (and get signed - Hollett lost his contract, rather sad).
So, Jordan Hollett, does he stay or does he go? I would ask to be traded if I were him. For a fresh start, to compete for a starting position, to get his career the potential to get back on track. Do you think this is likely? Bjorkland as back up ready to take the starting role when Mads moves on?
Catfan. Are you saying the WHL doesn’t produce NHL draft picks. They had 7 first rounders and 28 picks total . Which was first out of any league in the world ??? Do your research lol
I would be shocked to see Hollett here next season. As noted above, he needs a fresh start with a solid opportunity to be #1 goaltender. He could be traded for a respectable forward or dman.... We need a bit of grit in either position.
I was just listening to a Kamloops news segment on Clouston. https://cfjctoday.com/2019/06/19/blazers-introduce-new-head-coach-and-associate-coach/
In the interview, Clouston states it felt like he got punched in the stomach.
Clouston said he wants to do a better job and to get rid of the "ego aspect" and realize that things just happen and it's our response that is what's important.
It was reported from the Tigers as being a "mutual decision". The Kamloops interview pretty much confirms without stating directly that "mutual" was just "public affairs jargon" for being fired.
I think Kamloops will be a good fit for him. ----------------- -------------------------
The WHL actually did well in the draft.
It's advantageous for NHL teams to draft US & European players as they hold their rights for longer before needing to sign them. You'll see a lot more kids being drafted from the US in later rounds because of this.
Could be a big reason why a kid like former Tiger Josh Williams didn't get drafted. ---------------
I feel bad for Hollett. I think he deserves a starter's role, but with sogaard in net and Hollett being a 20 it's a numbers game.
Maybe Willies first trade will be with Kamloops lol. Their net situation looks like it may need some help.
Tiger Turf - I like your thought about Hollett going to Kamloops however they do have 2 really solid goalies right now. Not sure if they would trade one of them for an overage goalie. They have Dylan Garland and Rayce Ramsay who are both young but very talented.
I don't know Kamloops roster very well I just took a 2 second quick peek at their goaltenders from last season and saw they have a 16yr old carrying forward to this year.
Normally a goaltending tandem of a 17 yr old with 27 games of experience and a first-year 18yr old is not usually a recipe for success. But I've never seen them play nor have an understanding of their improvement capabilities so I wouldn't put money on those thoughts.
This is why I like people commenting though because now I'll probably pay attention to Kamloops goaltending situation through the season.
That's unfortunate that Clouston feels like he got punched in the stomach, but now he knows what it feels like for every person he got rid of while he was GM with the tigers!!! Karma sucks sometimes
Interesting that Josh Williams didn't get drafted. I saw he got a Pittsburg invite though. I thought after the Hlinka Cup he was expected to go in the first round
Terrible News. I heard his X-rays were negative. Hopefully, he is healthy enough for the start of the season. -----
Tigers have an interesting schedule. 8 of their first 11 games are at home. Then they don't play another home game for a month and a day. Also looks like they don't have a US road trip this year. ------
CHL Import Draft snuck up and is on Thursday, June 27th. Tigers will likely have 1 selection and keep Sogaard.
If they go for an older forward their 2000 class will be quite heavy. It seems more likely they go for a 17/18yr old forward.
------- Swift Current moves back into the Central Division and Kootenay(Winnipeg) moves back into the Eastern Division. Since swift is still a few years away from recovering I'm sure the Tigers won't mind that.

There were so few players selected in the WHL that it is getting harder and harder to be drafted at all. The Americans and Europeans are taking over.

Jordan should have been traded last season

Not what we were all wanting to hear. I hope it is minor and he will be back for the home opener!
