Kootenay's Mackenzie Skapski straight out stole this one. Tigers had a few breakaways, a bunch of Close hard shots, rang the crossbar, and were all over the Ice in the third period.
I liked the determination they displayed. They had quite a few good quality chances and it should have been a matter of time before something broke, but it never did.
I thought the Refs let a lot of interference go, the Tigers probably could have had 4-6 PP's instead of only 2 that were called.
Unfortunately Swift, PA, and it looks like Lethbridge might all win tonight.
The Tigers have a rematch against the Ice Saturday Night in Cranbrook.

I was disgusted with the reffing. At one point Shinkrak was being mugged behing the Koot net and no call!! How is that possible? The ref was standing right there. Another play a Koot player was hanging onto a Tiger jersey, again, right infront of the ref, no call. This was disgusting! I thought the Tigers had a real good chance in the 3rd. If the game had been called differently they may have tied it up BUT........AGAIN, DONT take DUMB penalties!! When will they learn?? The Tigers took way too many. Even if the refs are retarded, keep your stick and hangs to yourself so that you dont go to the box!!
We need out PP to get rolling! I thought there was really good chances but nothing came out of it.
Also, Shinkrak really battled tonight, like the determination he showed, also played better defensively! Good job.
Better get the 2 pts back in Koot - dont let them score first and keep your hands and sticks to yourselves!!!!!
Hats off to Skapski, he won the game. Any other tendy in net and the tigers would have taken it by a couple goals.
I liked Shinkaruks effort against Kootenay. He made a very good play in the defensive zone getting in their and chipped a puck past a defender and It gave Valk a partial breakaway.....
I didn't like Trevor Cox's game.......He is losing a lot of 1 on 1 battles, and is shying away from the corners......cant have anyone from your top 2 lines doing that.
I also thought the coaches should have gave more Ice to the 4th line at the beggining of the game. I think they only saw 1 or 2 shifts in the first period.
I didn't like the reffing either. I like to stay away from the refs because it is a very hard job to do...things happen in split seconds and unless your watching for it, its really hard to get a good look at everything, and I respect the hell out of them for that.
But opponents are literally crawling on top of shinkaruks back and crumpling him up and he is not getting the calls....pretty soon were gonna see him giving out piggyback rides.
I did like how Jensen stood up and fought Brock Montgomery after than kneeing clip...
That instigator is confusing the hell out of me. It seems it depends on the refs as to when an instigator will get called. We've seen talking after a hit and a fight get called and not called.
Consistency in reffing would be appreciated. This one sided s**t is getting to be a little much. I think this is the worst year I have watched in the 25+ yrs as a season ticket holder for poor officiating - icing, off-side & penalties & not only at the Tigers games!
Yup Skapski won the game for the ice...Same as Lanigan has at times for Tigers.. The puck seemed to be bouncing funny last nite. Hopping over sticks. Wouldnt lay flat on the ice..
I would like to see the Tigers take advantage of the game within the game more. Coaches call the ref over more and put a bit of a bug in his ear now and then. I see the refs talking to coaches at the opposition bench a fair bit. Let the ref explain his reasoning for a call or lack of one. Lets make sure we get the next questionable call our way.
Hunter...enough with the embelishment on the take downs/holds and then whining at the refs. If you get taken down or held; keep your feet moving and fight through it and go get the puck. I have seen enough of the walking back to the bench beaking at the ref while the opposition is rushing the puck up the ice. Let alone cussing at your teamates while play is going on too. Im totally immpressed with Clouston meeting you at the end of the bench for a 20 second conversation near the end of the 2nd. He looked calm chatting with you about your behaviour even though I think he was ripping you a new arsehole. You are the captain and the leader of the team. Everyone including yourself expects you to lead.
Was a great hockey except for the outcome. Lets get back on the horse and win the next one.
dengel2002 - totally agree with your comments. However, I have watched Clouston call the refs over & for some reason they ignore him most of the time. The opposition has the advantage here with the refs being next to their bench for all penalties & breaks. Hopefully that will change with an new arena.
I disagree with Hunter diving. He legimstely got mugged over and over and over again. Game in and game out. Yesterday he got mauled behind the net, kept fighting to get up and when he finally did, he skated right to the puck and made a pass. I would expect that the captain talk to the ref. that is what the C and A's are allowed to do. He gets rapped every game, he has every reason to turn around and ask what the F is going on!!!! I think you just do not like Hunter, jealously I am guessing. He tries like crazy. Back off!!!
I call them like I see them...No rose coloured glasses here...I challenge all to go watch the Cubs game Friday evening....Cubs up 3-0 against Coaldale...
Down a man from practise this morning...Hopefully a day-day thing....
who?
No, your glasses are not Rose, green maybe. It is tough being the best on the ice, everyone will be a harsher critic.
Cubs? Why watch B hockey when you can watch Major Junior??? Not into watch rec.
Someone explain to me what makes the PA trade brilliant? Harts numbers are slightly up and Mcveighs slightly down since the trade. Neither have impressive numbers. And how many GM's would take Hodder over Bus?
1. Tigers record is much better since the deal
2. They got a 2nd round pick for a Dman with weird defensive instincts.
3. Bus was a -22, Hodder is a +2
3. Hart and McVeigh are similar players. Mcveigh hasn't totally found his rhythm yet.
4. They got an extra prospect
Hodder has improved a lot the last couple weeks.
Jensen and Lewington have improved quite a bit with the massive playing time they have received from Bus leaving.
I still like the deal a lot.
I heard that Blake Penner was cut by a skate in practice.
I am agree with your Blog. Thanks for the useful information.I have been reading a lot of stuff about it, but the way in it is presented is nice.
I agree Tiger Turf, the trade was really good. I also think that McVeigh has more fight and intensity on the ice. I think he is a better player then Hart and would still make the same trade again. Hodder has been a nice surprise and I am glad that he found some success in MH. I think we will find that next year McVeigh will be a scoring threat each and every game, he does have a lot of talent!
Anyone know what Bus' +/- is now? Considering the amount of games he has played in the second half and only having a -8 stat in 30 games, shows the much improvement on his side since the trade. when you look at the first half of the season it looks like there have been some other problems including goaltending. I am still upset about the trade, and do not think it benefited the tigers in any way. Coming from the opinion of a longtime fan, i am still missing Bus on the ice, and believe he was a big contribution to the success of this team. To me if your looking at the "stats" to criticize a player, then attention should be focused on different players showing the same stats.
